Lutari's have been released as of when I woke up, 6 am Neopian time. I don't know when they will stop being released so get yours while you can, and don't forget to check throughout the day for releases since lutari day is one day late this year :)

Hello! Happy Lutari Day!
So, I really want a lutari (as I can imagine many others do too), and other than saving up a morphing potion, Lutari Day seems to be the only way to get one, via Create a Neopet.
Any tips or help other than just refreshing Create a Neopet over and over?
Or will that even work?

Flooding the market to promote NC seems very possible. Either way it's fun to plot new and exciting ways they are trying to get you to throw your cash at them. 

I totally didn't realize how cheap it was to get the pirate draik poition/egg.  How did I not know this? Brb, going to the trading post right now.

You're right though, clay is just an incredibly dull shade. The colour is nice, but as a pet it's basically going to mean contacts are an absolute must to try and add some depth to things, but the shading is so one dimensional that I'm not sure a good end result's ever going to be that achievable. Hmm, looking on Neocolours there's a clay draik, let's do an experiment...
I have a draik, let's compare her with the exact same look in clay.
 
Yeah, you see how the clay looks unfinished, like they've not completed shading it yet. Notice how the eyes and earring in particular seem to jump out at you. A lot of that is because as well as not having the overall shading depth of other colours, the clay lacks a clearly defined outline because the colours used for that aren't dark enough. The combination of those two things gives you a double-whammy of flat dullness, lol.
I guess the issue here is that clay just wasn't a good concept as a pet colour? Because let's face it, clay is a dull thing. Sorry not sorry, clay   I'm sure good customisation can be achieved, something Tyrannian maybe? Nothing with too much colour/detail to unfairly emphasise the drabness of the pet - no need to give it a complex - and while part of me (an admittedly pretty teeny part) kind of likes the idea of the challenge of making clay work, it would only be to play about with it on DTI, I'd never actively yearn for a clay pet. But I'd be interested to see what other people's imagination could create with them.
