  1. I had two pretty weird experiences a few years back.

    1) When I was living at home before University we had a doorbell that was set to just make a regular 'ding dong' noise, but sometimes - and, according to my parents, only ever when I was in the house - it would start playing a different tune and there was never anybody at the door. Anyway I put this down to some kind of weird fault with the bell and it was just this quirky thing that happened sometimes. Then when I moved into my first student house we got a doorbell and again we set it to 'ding dong' and the same thing started happening, and again, only ever if I was in the house.

    2) In the same student house I was the first back after the holidays, so I was completely alone and nobody but my housemates and the landlord had a key. I was sat in the living room when suddenly I heard a loud alarm going off somewhere, I went outside to check it wasn't someone breaking into a car or something but there was nobody outside and anyway the noise seemed to be coming from inside the house, as I walked back I realised it was coming from my housemates room so I went in and it was super loud in there, after searching for a while I finally found her assault alarm (in a box and under other things) was the source, but I couldn't find the string you pull out of it to set it off anywhere near the alarm itself. I had to hide it under a mattress to shut it up, and later when she was back we had a proper search and found the string across the other side of her room.

I'm not a believer in ghosts or anything but I have yet to come up with an explanation for the second.

  2. I had my account frozen over a game glitch literally a week after they started the move... They did get back to me eventually and I got my account back, but it did take several months. I guess at the time there might have been more tickets to get through, what with all the changes and problems happening because of the move. I'm sure they are still answering tickets, but I'd prepare yourself for a bit of a wait, even before all of this they had never been the quickest when it came to consumer queries or issues.

Have you checked over the name in case there is a swear word or a word that wouldn't be appropriate for younger players hidden within it because neopets really overdo their filters... like how you can't write words like 'grape' or 'skill'.

  3. I definitely concur with the people posting about error messages when posting high scores for games, I had this happen on a couple of avatar games - Buzzer Game and Ultimate Bullseye - and you just want to scream... especially if like me, you're generally not very good at games, even if you practise a lot... most of my high scores are total flukes.

Right now though the most frustrating thing is King Skarl's total lack of a sense of humour >-<! Just laugh and give me the avatar so I don't have to think about what to do if fierce peophins has eaten too much tin of olives ever again!

  4. Really this is the first year I've taken the cup even close to seriously and actually been involved with checking up on scores aside from just my own... Now at the risk of sounding like a complete idiot. I am getting very confused about how scoring works and what role this plays in your team winning/losing etc.

Firstly, whether number of games, or points gained from games, matter more.

For example is it better to win 100 games of SoSD with 1200 points (point total: 120,000) or win 762 games with 35 points (point total: 26,670)?
And is it the number of YYB games you win or your goal total that's most important?

How are the overall team scores calculated, is it a cumulative total of everyone's game points or rank points or both or something completely different?

p.s I wasn't sure if this was supposed to go in the AC section or the Help section, but given it's AC related this won out, so I apologise if it's in the wrong place.

  5. I think it would be a bit unfair to give them away with something like the Coincidence, even if it is only rarely... but some of the ones you could still earn for yourself I think they should bring back.

Like the Altador Cup or Daily Dare ones should have been available for every year rather than being retired as they're ongoing.

Plot avatars are difficult because while it's not the fault of newer users that they missed them, it's also not really feasible to bring them back (even though that would be great >-< I still can't believe I missed some of them, and some I completed on accounts long since lost so I don't have the avatars anymore), but as I said, I do think it would be unfair to those who put time and effort into participating to just start handing the avatars out at random... besides, surely part of the fun is actually earning the avatar yourself.

Basically I think if there's a way to bring them back so you still earn them that would be great, but I don't think they should be given away.

It's not even as if having them as a random prize would be very helpful towards attaining the avatar collectors avatar, the chances of getting just one as a prize would have to be low, so the chances of getting anywhere near enough to help you get in the top 50 are almost non-existent, and you'd still have to put the man hours into earning the hard to get/expensive non-retired avatars.

  6. I go through cycles of favourites to be honest, but as I'm on a bit of an avatar kick at the moment the dream right now is to zap Yezei into Coconut or get a fountain faerie quest for the same reason... I could apply through a lending chain I guess but I do think they're super cute so I'd probably want to keep it :).

  7. Something Has Happened! techobuzz.gif You are now eligible to use 'Techo - The Buzzer Game' as an avatar on the NeoBoards

That wasn't as painful as I expected actually, the cheese code thing really really helps xD.

Something Has Happened! deadlydice.gif You are now eligible to use 'Count Von Roo's Deadly Dice' as an avatar on the NeoBoards

After making the dummy mistake of going back months after I got this the first time and losing it, I finally got it back ='D.

  8. According to Jellyneo's item database, it is inflated currently. They had a warning on it, and listed its last known price before the inflation. It's typically hovered between 80k and 100k.

However, if you could sell it for even 1m while its inflated, then you could get a fair amount of profit from it. But as more emerge on the market, the price is decreasing (older trades were in the 7m region, more recent are around 4m.)

Personally, I would not trade a Draik Morphing Potion for the cake, but it's up to you.

    Good luck trading it!

I decided against it... I gotta be honest even if I could sell it (i'm doubtful tbh) I'd mostly just feel ridiculous trying to sell someone a cake for over a million.

  9. Man it took me five months of starting to collect avatars seriously to try for that one and the 'squawk' avatar too because I was freaking out about them going through as normal posts and then I'm just the randomer who popped up to say "squawk" XD.

Thankfully I got mine right first time, and I'm sure nobody would actually care, but ah the things we worry about :P.

  10. So unless I'm very much mistaken the "Mini Chocolate Birthday Cake" item was buyable until fairly recently. I had one offered on my Pirate Draik Morphing Potion just now, and thought someone was having a bit of a laugh, but I have looked it up and suddenly they're appearing in the TP for 4-6 Million and are no longer buyable.

Not sure what the cause is, but it's a bit suspicious to me that despite it appearing for that much someone would trade with it for a 375k morphing potion. Unless it's just the case that it's really difficult to shift with it being... you know... a cake.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

  11. As another who came back after quite a lengthy hiatus I was quite glad at first that I hadn't really missed too much in the way of plots (( It's always pesky to see people with plot trophies you missed your chance to get xD )) but then nothing and nothing and more nothing happened and it really has gotten quite boring.

I've been mostly concentrating on avatar collection, which is something I was never that into when I first played, in order to keep myself interested but I'm starting to hit a wall with that. Would be nice to get some new ones that rely on problem solving or skill, rather than collecting or shelling out vast amounts of neopoints on one thing.
