icedragonair got a reaction from karmacow in Can we talk about the Auction House?
From what I've seen, high price items like that, including the draik transmorg potion (I've been watching it myself though I'm only like a 1/8 of the way there) are priced at several million as base, with an increment of several million.
So like, say an item is 8mil, starting will be 5mil with a 3mil minimum increment, meaning that by design unless you want to grossly overpay for the item, there will only be one bid. As such, on these it doesn't really matter when you bid as long as you are the first, because nobody will bid after you. If the increment is something more proper, I suggest waiting until its a few minutes from ending, because if you get into a bidding war with someone it will only drive up the price the longer it goes on.

Note I've never really done high price auctions, but that's my philosophy for averaged priced ones, as well as, that I've seen, most transmorg potions are in category number one, so there is no bidding war.

    Anyways my humble opinion.

And I think you're right, we could use an auctions guide of some sort. I tried looking for one but couldn't find it. It looks kinda self explanatory and obvious at first glance, but I'm sure people have methods and strategies for sniping and pricing, and it would be nice to get a sort of intro on it.

Don't worry so much about that. If a thread dies and you were the last to post, doesn't mean you killed it, more likely everything just been said that needs to be. Also not all threads have to be super threads with 1000 comments, to a question one reply might be enough and that's okay.

You probably already know all this but i thought id say it anyway. Bedsides posting isn't a popularity contest, don't worry so much about it, its not like your posting to entertain people, you post because its of relevant interest to you.

Yeah sorry that sucks, but welcome to the internet. People act like that because they can. In real life there are consequences for that kind of behavior. If you act like that with friends, you will find yourself alone, you act like that with strangers (if you somehow managed to get into a conversation about opinions with a stranger) rudeness may earn you a black eye.

But on the internet there are no consequences, so people act without fear of retribution. Unfortunately, you'll soon realize, the reason a lot of people act polite in the real world, is ONLY because of fear of persecution.

The best thing I can say to you is a piece of advice that my friend often says: grow a thick hide.
Its just about the only way to deal with this, you can't do anything to the trolls.

Truthfully I have never had this problems myself, I don't really care.
But if it helps, think of it like this: they are random strangers, who the heck are they that they can ruin your day or influence your opinions, who are they that they are so important that their opinions should matter to you?
They are random strangers, there is no reason that their thoughts should have any importance to you.

I kinda see your point, but TNT's approach to such problems is: "in order to prevent discussions like this from turning in to a [removed] fight (excuse my french), ban them altogether"
I don't think they're wrong in this particular regard though. Christmas has become de-religionized just about everywhere, to the point that in some places it isn't even remotely associated with religion.

But imagine we get a sacred kau, not only does this open the way for religious discussion but now people will start saying its unfair and that they want a Jesus gellert or Moses lupe or whatever. Or worse, start getting all "this offends my faith".

You see, christmas as a color refers to the season, rather than, say, christian saints. Most of the things you mentioned that TNT has running have nothing to do with religion, even in undertone. Halloween is not religious in any nature and never was. As for thanks giving, in Canada and the US there are national holidays where people are legally allowed not to work (though I don't know if thanksgiving is one of those in the US) hence it would be illegal for TNT to force people to work on these days.

Its not that I don't see what you mean, but people tend to be VERY sensitive about religion, and, in my experience, even such innocent seeming suggestions tend to rile someone up, and then thighs tend to get nasty regardless.
People are just over sensitive about the topic, that's just how it is, its easier to just stay away from it.
They are not so much punishing you for suggesting something that they don't agree with, rather they don't want you to post things that others are almost certain not to agree with, and having to sort out the mess afterwards.

Screw is blocked. Its actually quite ridiculous when you consider how many words in the English language have double meaning (or even 5 or 6 meanings) outside of being used as slang.

Hey guys, I used to play Neopets years ago, like way back when, but after a while I stopped. A while back I suddenly got the urge to play again, but I couldn't log in to my account. I don't know if it was deleted, but I'm fine with starting a new one anyway. So one day I was searching Google for a dailies list and found this absolutely wonderful community, which I sincerely hope to be a part of. The guys over here at TDN have some great guides as well as the avatar lending program which I think is ingenious. So, nice to meet you all, and thanks for having me! :laughingsmiley:
