smumpkins
Welcome to the fourth installment of my ongoing contest. Even if you didn't take part in the earlier parts, you can still take part in this! There will be a prize to whomever wins this, as well as a chance at winning the grand prize. Now, you may be asking yourself "What could this crazy person have in mind for a contest?" Now, while I may be crazy, I won't host a crazy hard contest. It's fairly simple, and here are the guidelines: You will need to find a song that goes along with this site. The song must either be purely instrumental or instrumental with vocals that have no actual words - example can be found here. You must provide me with the title of the song and the name of the singer/band. You can submit as many entries as you'd like, so don't worry about picking only one (I'll listen to them all and pick the one I like most). You must have your entry/entries submitted no later than 11:59am Neopian Standard Time on Thursday, January 31st. Other than this, I just ask you to only post songs here, and anything else related to the contest be posted on the main thread. If you want to speak about a specific post on this thread, please copy the post number url and use that as a reference on the main thread (though, if I see something that needs to be changed or someone posting off topic, I will comment on it on this thread). I look forward to your entries, and I hope to see some decent ideas. EDIT: The prize for this week's contest will cost over 25k, and is based on music. Just thought I'd let you all know what you're competing for. Hubert
Of course I'm in, Just one question. How do I put in the "song" in the topic? My bad :(
smumpkins
All that you need to do is post the title of the song and the name of the band who does the song. That's all you need to do. Also, please submit more than one entry. YOU ARE NOT LIMITED TO ONE ENTRY!!!
antiaircraft
Ack, I'm not a music person. Seriously. *runs away* :P

Ashley Rose
How about "Online" by Brad Paisley! I love that song....plus you never know it could describe a lot of people XD Edit: Woops, I totally didn't realize that the "this site" part was a link to another site until after I posted that, so that's really not relevant.....I will look for a different song and edit my post again! I also didn't realize it couldn't have words haha....sorry!!! 2nd Edit: My entry is.... Distant Memories By The Roy Hamilton Orchestra Film Soundtrack: Titanic (Call me a nerd if you would like XD, but I love the Titanic soundtrack! smumpkins
Took me forever to find a working version on Limewire, but I managed. It does indeed flow well with the site, other than the climax of the song. That part gets fairly loud and distracting. I'll see if I can tweak that in WMP, and then go from there. You've both submitted excellent entries! *applauds* Now, the rest of you need to submit. <_<
Xepha
Alright.... I'm entering this round ;o X TV OST - Zasetsu - *Download here* Sviatoslav Richter - Rachmaninoff - Prelude Op. 23 - No. 4 in D, Andante cantabile - *Download here* I might post more later... if I find any. I need to check them with the site first. Edited with links to songs.
smumpkins
Those are impossible for me to find, Veronique. Any hints on where to find them?
Xepha
Hum yes... I'll upload them and add the links to my previous post :) Edit: Done!
heerozero
Well, here's my entry: Title: Regret Artist: Gackt Here's a YouTube video with the song: This song was recorded when Gackt was still in the band called Malice Mizer, so if you try to find the song on Limewire and can't find it under Gackt, try Malice Mizer instead. :)
smumpkins
I must say, I really do like all of these entries. Even the ones that wouldn't work with the site are pleasant to hear, and are being downloaded for my iPod. XD
Anime
I might as well enter. Title: Inuyasha - Aika (Sad Song) Artist: Inuyasha (That's what it says, annoying how the real one isn't listed) http://crimsonbrigate.imeem.com/music/-5nE..._aika_sad_song/ Title: Naruto Sad Theme Artist: Toshiro Masuda http://profile.imeem.com/dhGPPa/music/MHpe...utos_sad_theme/ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bNgI8cMJym4 (it's a bit echo-y but it's the full version) You need to log in to hear them all the way through. smumpkins
Excellent, another great entry! I won't lie, it's extremely close between a few of the entries, and I don't know which way it will go. I guess we'll just have to wait and see, and wonder if any others will be brave enough to swoop in and steal your chances at winning. Muhahahaha...! EDIT: This part of the contest will be closed 2 hours earlier than usual, because I'll be going to sleep upon arriving home from work. That means that it shall be over at 10pm NST, tonight. I will then announce the next part. As long as you get your entry in before I close it, it's still a valid entry. The next part is easy, though.
Ellie_Penguin
Okay I will give this a try. Here are my entries. I picked these entries based on what I felt when I wrote the poem. I'm giving you a lot of options because, you might not find some of them. Title: A whole new world Artist: Peabo Bryson & Regina Belle (Aladdin Soundtrack) Song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E2CVLWOoNsY Title: Listen to your heart Artist: DHT Song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lWwFXH2NPJE Title: Romantikku Ageru yo Artist: Don't remember, but it's the end theme song of Dragon Ball. Song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5g3--Fun3cI Title: Let it go Artist: Luba Song: Title: The Living Years Artist: Mike and the Mechanics Song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NqQM-HoFeEk Title: Chinese Dance - Nutcracker Suite Artist: Tchaikovsky Song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O3CjBLrazE8 Title: Tiempo de Vals (Spanish) Artist: Chayanne Song: http://youtube.com/watch?v=Ss6-Hqd2vzc So yea that's all. Good luck everyone!
smumpkins
Okay, what I'm going to do is going to go ahead and list all of the entries, as well as a quick run down on each one, finishing with the winner. If you don't feel like scrolling down, Brittney (Anime) won this round, earning her a Moehawk Speaker. Congratulations! This was a really tough choice between three of the entries, and I had to listen to them multiple times. ---------------------------------------------------- Title: A whole new worldArtist: Peabo Bryson & Regina Belle (Aladdin Soundtrack) Song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E2CVLWOoNsY Title: Listen to your heart Artist: DHT Song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lWwFXH2NPJE Title: Romantikku Ageru yo Artist: Don't remember, but it's the end theme song of Dragon Ball. Song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5g3--Fun3cI Title: Let it go Artist: Luba Song: Title: The Living Years Artist: Mike and the Mechanics Song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NqQM-HoFeEk Title: Tiempo de Vals (Spanish) Artist: Chayanne Song: http://youtube.com/watch?v=Ss6-Hqd2vzc Okay, none of these will work for the site, mainly because they all have vocals, and I had requested only instrumentals. Even with ignoring the vocals, they just didn't flow with the overall feel of the site. Title: Chinese Dance - Nutcracker SuiteArtist: Tchaikovsky Song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O3CjBLrazE8 Unlike the other songs, this one actually had validity, but still was too upbeat and fast for the site. Good song, but just doesn't have the right flow to it. Sviatoslav Richter - Rachmaninoff - Prelude Op. 23 - No. 4 in D, Andante cantabile - *Download here* Not a bad song, when you can actually hear it. When it first started playing, it took what felt like 30 seconds until I actually heard anything. The parts you hear are great, but the gaps of silence in between just keep you feeling like there's nothing playing, and when you DO hear something, it kind of surprises and distracts you from the poem. X TV OST - Zasetsu - *Download here* An all around good song, but the constant swells in volume where it gets soft and then comes back fairly loud... kind of distracts from the key point of the site - the poem. When reading the poem and you hear it get loud (quite quickly, as you'll notice) you get distracted fairly quickly. I'm saving this song as a personal favorite, but it's just too distracting as "background music." Distant MemoriesBy The Roy Hamilton Orchestra Film Soundtrack: Titanic Very good song, and flows nicely until it hits the swell in the middle with the sudden (almost fanfare) crescendo that peaks to a level that kind of startles you out of your concentration on the poem. I will say this for most of the entries, but that's what I'm trying to deviate away from. The focus is not the music, but the poem. The images are to support the poem with visual aid, and the music is supposed to be in the background, giving a calm, relaxed feel to the site in general. Title: Artist: Gackt Very excellent song, and the piano is soft, yet pleasant. At a lower volume, it's not that distracting, but it does increase in speed in the middle parts of the song, which kind of differs from the overall feel I'm going for on this site. Though, it is a song I'll place into my favorites, it just does not flow well with the site. Title: Inuyasha - Aika (Sad Song)Artist: Inuyasha (That's what it says, annoying how the real one isn't listed) http://crimsonbrigate.imeem.com/music/-5nE..._aika_sad_song/ Nice, soft song that goes nicely with the site, but has absolutely no variance to it. If it weren't for the short length and stagnant flow, it would be perfect. Saya's LoveBy Mark Mancina Blood+ Original Soundtrack 1 Great entry, and excellent feel for the site. A darker, softer song that can be played in the background and not distract from the site as a whole. Slightly too depressing for a site that is meant to be kind and gentle. Title: Naruto Sad ThemeArtist: Toshiro Masuda http://profile.imeem.com/dhGPPa/music/MHpe...utos_sad_theme/ Perfect fit for this site. While it's it's a slightly depressing song, at the same time it is beautiful and uplifting. You can literally feel the emotions that were put into this song when created and performed. Excellent variation throughout the song, yet not too distracting from the overall site.
Guest Levy
Well if you watch Blood+ You'd know that that anime is where I got the idea for a Blue Rose. I would have submitted another one but, I guess an opra sounding sound is considered lyrics. http://profile.imeem.com/ZSFaOD/music/evCS...son_divas_song/ You can clearly hear her saying things, even if you can't understand it. That song is what I was going to submit but it doesn't go well with the site at all. Then I found the song Saya's love, very quiet, yet does have a bit of sadness to it. Brittney's entry is the best, I agree.
