Shockwave won't let me play

Hi,

I was trying to play a game of the "Hannah" series. When I bring up the game window it tells me to update my shockwave. I did that, I even used the link they posted for me to find it. I then restarted my computer as suggested and it still won't let me play the game. Any ideas on what could be causing this and how I might be able to fix it? I use internet explorer and have never had a problem with it.

Shockwave games have been a pain in just about everyone's butts for years. It's just terrible! We have a few tips that might help you- they worked for me, and I quickly went and played all the shockwave games with avatars in one afternoon so I could get them out of the way, LOL.

For your information: This game is not functioning at all for the majority of players. Here is a trick that has worked for the Chrome browser:
Step 1: Load Hannah and the Pirate Caves. Click to play and let the game load.

Step 2: WHILE HatPC is still open, bring up the Gourmet Club Bowls. Remember to keep the Hannah game up while you're doing this.

Step 3: Click to play GCB. (Hannah is still open)

Here's where you have to play around with it a bit. I've had Club Bowls load the first time using this method. Other times, the error message pops up. If it does, click ok then reload the GCB pop-up play screen. RELOAD. DO NOT EXIT AND CLICK TO PLAY AGAIN. Repeat until the game loads. The most tries it took me was 4 the first time. Other times, it has worked the first try, or second try, but it can also take a few more tries. I'd say give it 10 tries, a few more if you're patient enough. From the people who have tried it in Chrome, we have been able to access the game. (Remember to have your shockwave player up to date as well).

Once the GCB game has loaded, you can then close Hannah, but will have to re-open her if you wish to re-load the GCB play screen. Hasn't been tested with other shockwave games, only Hannah and only in Chrome. If you find other combinations or browsers that work, please send in a ticket and let us know.

Another possible workaround is to load Club Bowls as usual. When the play screen pops up, copy the address from the popup into the "Click to Play" launch window. Submit the address and refresh until the game loads without an error. This has been reported as successful in a few cases.

Some people have had more luck on different browsers, Chrome and Safari in particular. You may want to give one of those a try, or if you can, borrow an older computer. I can only get them to load on my old laptop, and not my new iMac. :)

Will this allow me to then open Hannah to play?

It should! Try following the instructions for Hannah, and then try some of the other Shockwave games. Hannah is /usually/ the easiest game for people to get running, but you're not necessarily out of luck if you can't get it going first.

Oh boy this is frustrating..lol. I can load Hannah and the Ice Caves with no problem, immediately. But it's the Pirate Caves I really would like to play. Just my luck. I appreciate your help!!

I'm having this problem with a lot of games at the moment! Particularly annoying because I'm only a couple of games away from 250 sent scores :( I'll try this advice later and hopefully it'll fix it

I submitted an error ticket a few weeks ago mentioning the problem that shockwave will load, but it says there's an error with the shockwave (on both chrome and FF, I believe). TNT says it doesn't know why it's happening and to try it on IE. Except IE gives me the same message as aleighball. I don't know...I want to play, but too much of a headache, to me.

I'm getting the same error message on Hannah and the PC. I've also tried running it on Chrome, IE, FF, Safari and Opera and none have worked. Re-installing Shockwave does not work and The Neopets Team do not know what the issue is.

I will try the above advice in Chrome and hopefully that will work as I do want the avvie for this game!

I found that simply opening Hannah and then refreshing worked after a few attempts and I managed to get the avatar. :)
