minimickey008 Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 trkstr, we have the same type of beep test, I hate doing different types of fitness testing. It gets so annoying!
rebsigetsi Posted September 19, 2006 Posted September 19, 2006 OMG. If there's one thing I really hate, it's bleep tests. I hate them so so so much. Thanks Waiwai for telling me what the honoured thingies were... I hate gym actually. :D I'm not exactly your most fit person... :D
The Big Cheese Posted September 19, 2006 Posted September 19, 2006 you guys all got wacky scheduals, and classes, mine are simple... Period 1 ~ Gr. 11 Art Period 2 ~ Gr. 10 Science Period 3 ~ Gr. 10 Enriched Math Period 4 ~ Gr. 10 Tech
minimickey008 Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 Going into grade 9, we get to choose two subjects we want to do and then we get to choose a SOSE (History or Geography) to do. I chose EE (Business) and Japanese and Geography. There are also core subjects that we have to do which consist of Math, Religion, Science, HPE and English.
.Dan. Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 So your school teaches Religion as a faith or as in Intellectual Investigation and Discussion?
squidge15 Posted September 22, 2006 Author Posted September 22, 2006 i'm guessing that minimickey goes to a christian school, if one of her core subjects is religion. we have a class like that at my school, but i think it's bible studies or something like that. what exactly IS a bleep test? it kinda sounds like something everyone in PhysED had to do for the physical fitness test: it was the 12-minute run. you'd run laps in the gym for 12 minutes and see how many you could do in that time period. i got 20. felt like i was going to puke afterwards. JV football is 5-0! unfortunately, varsity isn't doing as well. they're 1-3 and playing a game tonight. thank god it's away so i don't have to march. and i am scared to see my math progress reprt.
.Dan. Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 IN NZ, a beep test is basically a cheap test system. You have a set distance in-between two lines, at the sound of the beep you run from one to the other. The aim is basically to get there before the following beep, which signals the return run.
Clara Chong Lee Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 I'd like to rant about my school as well. 1) Music Culture - supposed to cover how changes in society affect music composition and performance, most students learnt NOTHING from it. It's a good class for sleeping though. 2) Music Theory - this one's useless. all the lessons covered throughout my 4 years in college can be taught outside. The highest level taught is ABRSM Grade 8 theory standard. Most of the students are paying for classes which they already had. 3) Music ensembles - the school has that "experience more learn more" policy, where students are encouraged to learn instrument outside their main instrument. 3 ensembles held (each) once a week. Although it may seem fun, but it robs students the ability of specialising AND EXCELLING in one instrument. A total waste of time. The only thing I like about my school is the one on one violin lesson weekly, but the teacher goes MIA every now and then, and even though school has started for less than 2 months, we changed teacher again, from ons "MIA happy" teacher to another "MIA Happy" one. This school is definitely NOT the place to study Classical Music degree course. I'm auditioning and moving to Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts next year. THAT'S a great Classical music school!
Natalie Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 My school is so horrible, especially the classes they put me in. squidge15 Posted October 22, 2006 Author Posted October 22, 2006 My school is so horrible, especially the classes they put me in. I'm having a diffucult time going between each class. 1st - Honours Chemistry 2nd - Astronomy 3rd - Honours Algebra II 4th - Honours Sophmore English 5th - Spanish II 6th - Honours World History 7th - Driver Education/Consumer Economics Eep! Your schedule is a bit similar to mine! I'm taking Algebra II Honors right now and I have English II Honors next semester. I'm taking Spanish I next semester. I took Driver's Ed in March. And I finally got my permit last Wednesday! :D What does the American Honor's system mean? Honors are advanced classes. They're harder than the regular classes and you have to do more work and projects. You still get one credit for taking an Honors class but you get an extra point on your GPA for each Honors class you take. Plus it looks good on your college application.
scuandhippi Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 My timetable is: Mon: Maths, French, Tech, Tech, History, French Tue: Art, Tech, Science, IT, PE, PE Weds: English, Citizenship, Science, French, g&t meeting , Maths Thur: Music, double g&t meeting, IT, Maths, English Fri: IT, Drama, Maths, English, English, Science Yep, fun fun. Oh and if i put the same lessons twice, its a double lesson. Ooh and G&T meeting are gifted and talented meetings, which is the equivalent (im guessing) of your 'Honours' Classes. Although that is a guess, i dont really understand any education but mine. Oh and we dont have a yellow bus, we have to make our own way to school. yeah. ¬_¬
.Dan. Posted November 15, 2006 Posted November 15, 2006 Heh, I have my end-of-year exams tomorrow..and our senior students have already finished school for the year...

Strategos Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 Really? I live in the US, but I always thought that all of that was in high school. Oh wait, 9th is high school. It's so close to me now. Just 1 more year. :( I love junior high, though. (well, best of all the sections anyways) I really hate school though. EXCEPT NEOSCHOOL. :)
