This story isn't done yet; it was written by my brother and his friend....tell me what you think. It's just the prologue so far.

Prologue:

A girl trudged through the snow, tiny hands covering her small face against the piercing wind. The wind blew around her endlessly, never pausing. The five-year-old girl’s small, dark brown braid blew behind her. Where she was going? Not even she knew.

It was an endless storm and the girl was lost in it. The only comfort she had was a small stone with blue markings carved in it that bounced around her chest. But what good is it? It’s only a stone, she thought, bitterly. Suddenly, as if the stone had heard her thoughts, it emitted a faint glow and then a beam of light shot from it and pointed to the left of her. She looked at the stone and then to the beam, and quickly decided to follow it, wherever it went.

The girl walked through the snow, tired almost into falling asleep, but the beam kept going and she wanted to find out where it would take her.

Suddenly, there was a flash of light ahead of her, and then another flash. Then, the girl realized it was a door opening and closing, which meant people. Filled with renewed hope, the girl rushed ahead, but then tripped over something and she fell headfirst into the snow. Slowly, she got up, but, tired as she was, she dragged her feet toward the light of a window that had appeared as she got nearer and nearer… One…more…step…

Everything turned black.

* * *

Tears pouring out of her eyes, an eight-year-old girl ran blindly into the night, fearing about what would happen if she got caught… and what would happen if she stayed. Already, she could hear the sound of bloodhounds and soldiers coming after her, trying to bring her back to the castle. But no; she would never go back, after what that—that monster did to her parents. And now, the monster would do away with her just as she had done with her parents.

She ran off into the forest, sure that she would lose the soldiers and bloodhounds. This forest was said to be cursed and filled with dark magic, but she had to take chances; it was the only way to escape. Suddenly, she heard the sound of ferocious barking and the pounding sound of hooves: her soon-to-be captors were near. Looking back, she saw shadows moving and saw the vicious looks on the bloodhounds’ faces.

Suddenly, she bumped into something hard and fell down. It was something big and scaly. It was, to her rising horror, a dragon. She staggered back a few steps, but the dragon stared down at her and then to the soldiers and bloodhounds that were near. The dragon lowered its arching neck and looked at the girl with one huge, shiny, black eye the size of a dinner plate. The dragon’s hot breath blew the girl’s messy red hair and whispered in her mind, Climb on.

The girl hesitated and then scrambled onto the dragon’s back when she heard the barking of the bloodhounds. The dragon raised its head and let out a deafening roar and flapped its wings and flew out of the forest, with the girl on its back.

* * *

There was a sudden blast of white light from the night sky, and out of the clouds came a small child, seven-years-old, falling towards the ground. Faster and faster, she fell, not showing any sign of being conscious. Suddenly, the girl slowly slowed down over a green field, landing neatly onto the dirt the dirt road, blonde hair a mess on the ground.

Hours went by, and then came dawn. An old traveler rode by with his cart and frowned at a tiny visible speck from a distance on the road. It must be log, he thought. But strange, there are no trees around here. But as he neared it, he realized it was not a log, but a young girl, who lay there, unconscious.

He hurried over to the girl and picked her up. The girl opened her eyes a little and stared into the old man’s face.

The old man smiled. “Don’t worry. I’ll bring you back to my village where we can find your parents.â€

He gently laid her onto the cart, taking off his cloak and putting it on her. Just then, his hand brushed something feathery on her back, and pulled out the thing he had felt. He gasped and took a step backwards.

It was a wing.

* * *

(Four years later)

A furious fist slammed onto the wooden table. Its owner glared at all the people sitting around the table. One of the men, wearing a brown cloak, stood up and said, nervously, “We—we beg your forgiveness, Your Highness; we couldn’t find them, we had no—“

“Don’t go into your pathetic excuses! Do you not understand that you are working to increase the spread of my authority over this land and do you not remember me given you—all of you—this job to find those idiot girls so that they don’t get in my way?!†she said, angrily. She slammed her hand once again onto the table. A few wooden tankards dropped to the floor. The man winced.

“I will never hear a word from all of you again, unless it is about the location of those girls. Now get out of my sight!†She watched as the men gave stiff bows. They fumbled out of the room, except for three of them.

They were younger, about twelve to fifteen. The hoods they were wearing concealed their faces. The sixteen-year-old girl stepped towards them, and they kneeled down. Her lips curved into a smile.

“You three have proven to be my most loyal servants. Therefore, I have chosen you three to become my right-hand men when I finally ascend the throne. All those fumbling fools have done is misuse my authority I have given them to find the girls, and yet you are not swayed by their actions.

“Thus, I shall give you my most important job: you are to travel to every town, every village declaring for girls who are between the ages twelve and fifteen. You should begin at the end of this year. This will be an easier way to find the girls, for those who do not follow that decree will be severely punished.â€

“Um, Your Highness,†said the tallest of the three boys. She turned her head sharply toward him.

“What is it?â€

“What shall we do for the next few months?â€

The girl smiled, glad that he had asked the question.

“Eliminate them, the ones who had just been in this room, the ones who made my search longer than it was supposed to be.â€

The boys stiffened. The girl laughed.

“Kill them all.â€

Well, here's another one. Not written by me! Written by my brother. The other one was written by my brother's friend.

Prologue

A young boy sat at his keyboard, typing in his homework. 13-year-old Kyle Cleves was a solitary person, and preferred to stay to himself. He had jet-black hair and dark brown eyes, along with eyelashes that were longer than most people his age. Signs of adolescence were evident on his face, and his rather thick brows were no exception. He stood at the height of 5 feet 4’, and was as tall as his friends, who were at least one year older than he was. Since he was homeschooled, he didn’t associate with other people that much. However, he enjoyed writing, and used the computer quite often to write a few papers or stories. He was a Christian, and loved to talk to people about his faith.

Kyle’s brother, Christian, had been working on a blog for a long time. He made it look like so much fun; Kyle wanted to start his own. He snuck the Mother Website into his Internet Allow List, and began to work. Kyle had dreamed for an entire year about his own website. He wanted to talk about his favorite things on it and give cheats to various sites and their games. But now, it was all about to change. He felt like sharing the Bible with people online, and began to search for a proper name. First, however, he had to choose a username. The site server warned him that his username would be the name of his site, so he chose scripture4u. When he was allowed to start on his site, he enthusiastically started writing his ‘About Me’ page. Kyle decided to start off with a few more pages. In view of the fact that he was going through a one-year Bible Reading Plan, he chose to post his Plan for others to see. If they want to, they can ‘borrow’ and use it as long as they liked. He looked through his Bible for the dates and chapters, along with a title for each. There was also an every-seven-days review. After finishing with the page, an idea for a verse of the day came to mind, and he wrote it down.

Then the journey began.
