DOOM: He was believed to have written "Salve Regina" not "Ave Regina." But very close. I'll change the bonus because, I think the question is not very clear. But, because you tried you will get the same prize as the bonus winner so you don't have to answer this bonus.

Bonus Question: Explain this Symbol (this bonus question replaces the last bonus).

TRIVIA

Woah it isn't over, yet! Keep going guys! You're doing great and thank you for posting a recap of the Trivias!

GraphicMania

Don't forget that this new feature starts on Monday!

Generally, you will first need a "field guide" which you can use to compare the minerals you are trying to identify with pictures and general features of the different minerals. Common minerals are usually identified by an inspection of their physical properties: colour, streak, transparency, luster, hardness, cleavage, fracture, specific gravity, and crystal form.

Colour

Some minerals can be identified by colour, especially if they aren't ever any other colour - like malachite, which is always green. Colour should never be used as the sole judge of a mineral's identity however, as sometimes chemical impurities can change the colour but not the basic make-up.

Streak

A mineral's "streak" is found when it is rubbed over a white porcelain tile (called a streak plate). It leaves a line of powder which is always the same colour, no matter if there are impurities in your sample.

Transparency

This is how much you can see through a sample of your mineral and has three degrees: transparent (see through), translucent (light goes through, but you can't see objects) and opaque (you can't see anything).

Luster

Luster, or the way light is reflected off a sample of your mineral, is observed on cut or freshly broken samples. The two main types are metallic and non-metallic.

Hardness

Judged on a scale established by Friedrich Mohs, a German mineralogist, hardness is meaused by scratching your sample with other objects of known hardness to then working out your sample's hardness.

Cleavage

Minerals that break along flat surfaces can be identified using cleavage. The number of cleavage areas there are can help identify what the mineral is.

Fracture

You can also identify by fracture, which is the mineral breaking without any cleavage. There can be a curved break called conchoidal, jagged breaks with sharp points, splintery breaks, and uneven breaks which appear as a rough surface.

Specific Gravity

This is how much more the mineral weighs compared to an equal amount of water. An example is silver, it weighs ten times that of water.

Crystal Form

Crystal form takes much time and space to happen. There are many categories of crystal form. Some examples are blebs, which look like round blobs, cubic which are square, massive is no crystal shape, rose shaped appears to look like a rose or flower, and geode which is a sphere shape.

EDIT: I'll pick 12 this time - thanks Ellie!

Trivia:

Like many other reptiles, chameleons also shed their skin. A chameleons skin will not grow when the chameleon does, so they will shed it when it gets too tight. The shed skin is also a good source of protien, so often a chameleon will eat its old skin. o_O

Question of the Day

Subject: Paleontology

Level: Medium-Hard

Answer: Long enough to explain

14) Did Dinosaurs evolve? If so, how?

Isabel cannot answer!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bonus Question

Prize: Food

-What is an Assonance?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

TRIVIA

If you don't know any more Chameleon trivia, post a message stating so! That way I know if there are any more trivias coming.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

GraphicMania

Prize: Paintbrush!

Challenge: Since I feel all dinosaur-ish. I want you guys to make a Dinosaur Wallpaper Presentation.

How to: Use any media (i.e. photoshop, MS Paint, paper, cardboard, etc). It doesn't matter what you use! I will be judging on creativity and research. This is what must be included in the wallpaper, and by "wallpaper" I mean a poster XD.

1) Pick your favorite dinosaur era. Explain it.

2) Pick your favorite dinosaur from that era. Explain its characteristics and anything you want!

3) Provide a few images or draw some yourself! You don't have to be an excellent artist, as long as you show what you have learned!

Submission Guide: Just save or scan your file and post it on here! It doesn't have to be a heavy file, just as long as I'm able to read it XD.

Deadline: You have until Sunday, January 27th to submit. Winner will be announced on Monday.

Judging: After your entry has gone through my judging, I will be making a poll and I will let people decide who wins! They will have all Sunday to do the voting. Even Monday before I post the next question XD.

*REMEMBER* DO NOT make this a priority over your own homework. Like I said, you won't be judging much on quality. You can even write the entry on pencil, and you will have a chance to win! As long as I see you have done enough research XD. And you don't have to find unknown trivias or anything.

*HINT* You can start by writing about whether your dinosaur was herbivore or a carnivore!

Let's see, I haven't received the bonus prizes for the last two rounds, but that doesn't matter much to me.

As to the actual question and the bonus, I have absolutely no idea. But I know we know more trivia.
