Loc
TNT is so strict about things, but then they draw Faeries with their female parts popping out of their shirt. Whats with that? Thats not a positive influence on children.
smumpkins
They draw them in that manner because in all mythical lore, faeries have always been described as great beauties with bountiful "features." Now, if the faeries didn't have such "features", they would be like something out of a PBS cartoon, and no one likes that. XP
Loc
I"m not complaing about them  , I mean TNT is so strict on some things it's just kind of surprising.
smumpkins
Well, those forms of features are just so common in the media these days, they probably figured that no one would really pay that much attention to detail. I mean, women look like that in the media and such, and it's hard to censor that stuff from kids. However, it's easier to sensor other things than that. Superfly
This was recently released in the Neopian Times. And for the last time, no, these rules don't apply to us! We may occasionally put a bit of romance in the stories we tell. We know where to draw the line so that the story is appropriate for users of all ages. So, I'd imagine that would also go along the lines of their images. ;)
dahlurd
i dont getit. what about the faeries they draw? as far as i know, i havent seen faeries that look too vulgar anywhere on neopets.

smumpkins
Once again, I'm sure kids see much worse on basic television. Seriously, they try to censor it more like basic television, but with less swearing. They're not OVERLY revealing, so they don't mind putting it there. nannerz
Heh I've heard lots of people complain about the none-so-modest faeries before, and I guess it's a reflection of the kind of world we live in today. Think about barbie dolls for example, and the young age at which young kids play with them. Yuck.
DOOM Bringer
I've never actually noticed/heard that before! It's probably due to the fact that it's become such a common part of todays world that I didn't even notice it. Either that or I didn't notice it because personally I just don't care *shrugs*
antiaircraft
I'm not sure about this either, but as far as I can see TNT is drawing the line pretty well.
*princess*
I was just looking on Neopets at the free Shop Blog Layouts. Look what I found: Illusen "Uh, Illusen do you think your dress is short enough?!?!" :weird:
Aprodia
Dahlurs, take a look at Illusen, she's the worst. :D She's the DEVIL! :D But seriously, kids can download porn in Gbts every day from everywhere. I think the faerie image Neopets introduces is an artistic touch compared to that. Besides, there aren't only small children playing on the site. crxsnochic
I do find the voluptuousness of the neopet fairies slightly surprising at times. For the most part they're pretty tame but every now and then they edge just a bit closer to 'the line'. Though a lot of peoples perceptions on it are based on your background. If you've been around many babies (I don't have a baby, but some of my friends have children), most babies hate wearing clothes, if they had it their way they'd be bare all day long. If there were no pre-set ideas of morality to influence people as they grew up, I bet everyone would probably be running around with no clothes on! Well, climate permitting I guess, snow is cold! If you look at it like that, those faeries would actually look kinda prudish :) So it's all in how your personal experiences have shaped your perception on things. _Zafia_
To be honest i cant se a problem with the illusens picture in #12 reply. But then again, im used nudeness. I can only agree with #14. My 2½year old girl loves to run around nude. And everytime she gets a bath she runs around naked in the whole flat with her potty in her hand lol. I guess my points is that i got no problem in a fairly less dressed cartoon figure. I just dont like nude pictures of real people :) I actually prefer less dressed cartoon figures than the 13-14y girls in town, that tries to be more mature and grown up, than they really are. ~*MidnightMoonFiretail*~
This topic is taking a weird turn... Well, I suppose they do want the faeries to look kind of like 'real' women with wings that can fly, not that I'm complaining really about this issue. antiaircraft
Like I said before, it doesn't seem to me that the images of the faeries are overly explicit in any way... or maybe it's just because I run on coffee.
m3l3ana
My opinion (and it is my opinion) is that this topic is stupid. Can people honestly find more petty stuff to complain about? Faeries have always worn short little dresses and looked like mature women. Take Tinker Bell for example, she wore a short little yellow dress and I don't see anyone complaining about her!!?? I personally think some people need to get a life! Anyways.. I also agree with Zafia

I really agree with that, I haven't even noticed that about the faeries until i read this topic. But it's really common. Take Zelda: Ocarina of Time for example for those of you who played it. Some children play that game but the fairies there are almost completely exposed only covered up in vines...I think.
~*MidnightMoonFiretail*~
I have to admit, this topic is really a useless debate. I just find the fact that TNT could restrict some things to be 13+ only, but the faeries are not that vulgar.
Ms.Nikki
LOL You must be an avid neopets player because I really never noticed. But I understand what you're saying. How old are these faeries supposed to be anyway?

m3l3ana
Some of them have a cleavage and a big bust that you can see, also some of them wear short dresses etc. But they are Faeries so what do people expect. I never noticed it before I read this topic either and I think they are suppose to be in there early 20's, not sure though.
