I don't know. I've not yet seen a new episode on any of the sites that I frequent. Maybe they showed all of those new ones because the UK will be going a couple weeks without?

I still want to know if control over lava can only be done by the avatar. I mean, it's earth and fire. So, essentially, it would take control over two elements to take control over that.

Technically it's just earth - really hot earth, but just earth. I'm not sure if Firebenders or Earthbenders can control it though...

If it was just earth, how come in an earlier episode they didn't just bend the lava away from the city instead of making a large ditch.

Because that's a HUGE amount of lava - more than any of the Earthbenders there could handle I'd bet.

Technically lava is considered both earth and fire. I mean, Kitara can bend mud, but so can Toph. So, perhaps lava can be bent by both.

Well mud is earth mixed with water, while lava is just really really hot rock - I'm not sure though.

I mean, honestly, molten earth is basically fire and earth. Earth does not come to that state without massive levels of heat. ie. Fire.

I generally think of fire as something that's actually burning - still, it's not like it's proven one way or the other.
