antiaircraft
((Over the years, the human race has cut down almost all of the great forests of the Earth - only one remains, and it is in this forest that the spirits of nature reside. For centuries it has been a refuge, a place where those who were desperate could reside in times of trouble, safe from any hazard, from predators to plagues to violent storms. But now the last great forest faces a very different threat. Human lumberjacks have discovered it and its gigantic trees, and all they seem to be able think of is how much money the timber will earn them. You can join as either a spirit or a human, and you can be either against cutting down the forest, for cutting down the forest, or neutral if you're a human, and against fighting back, for fighting back, or neutral if you're a spirit. Name: Your name Type: Either spirit or Human Element (spirits only): Either fire, water, earth, air, light, or growth Sub-element (spirits only): If your element is water you could pick ice as your sub-element, if it's growth you could pick plant life, etc. Alliegance: As explained above Other: Anything else you want to add This roleplay was inspired by the anime 'Princess Mononoke'.)) Name: Arc Type: Human Alliegance: Neutral, though he has his own reasons to defend the forest Other: An elite assassin who is exceptionally skilled in non-weapons combat (and thus rarely uses weapons). Wears a tight-fitting black robe with a hood. He also possesses minor magical abilities that allow him to achieve invisibility, teleport over short distances and do other things that are useful in his trade. He works for himself and for himself only, but he does have his own moral standards. Most humans consider him to be only a myth. Arc studied the trail of footprints on the ground, running a gloved hand gently over them. He smirked. His target was clever, but not clever enough. Leaving the false trail behind, he continued after the trail of fear and panic his quarry had left behind. As he walked, he noticed that a storm was closing in. Perfect, he thought, Rain and darkness mean less visibility, and less visibility means less chance of being seen when I go in for the kill. Ruto
Name: Sahetow Type: Spirit Element (spirits only): Fire Sub-element (spirits only): Lava Alliegance: Sahetow is all for saving the forest Other: Sahetow isn't very fond of humans, and thus will either hide herself, or directly come up to them and attack. Sahetow sat silently in one of the tall trees of her forest home. She used to be able to fly around happily without any worries, but today was different. Sahetow realized that the humans had found the forest, and that they were going to chop it all down. If any of the humans threatened her directly, she had a fire power to chase them off. Her fire was enough to burn a human, but not the trees around her. The fire she produced had the ability to move around the trees and avoid them altogether. So it was decided. She would attack any human that was chopping down a tree.
antiaircraft
Even deep in the forest, the rain came pouring down in sheets, blanketing everything around. It didn't hinder Arc, but boosted the effectiveness of his skills, allowing him to approach his target undetected. He could see it now, a black mass, heaving pitifully on the ground. A former spirit, but now a demon of chaos and destruction. It was him who had led the humans to this forest, who had threatened the safety of Arc's one and only friend. Still, even the best assassins felt pity on the occasion, though they didn't allow it to interfere with their decisions. He lunged, delivering a stunning kick, then went in for the kill. Midtime
((Name: Heratamuquesaturimosafj (most just call him "the god of the king cats") Type: Spirit Element: growth Sub-element: Big cats Allegiance: Neutral until he finds out the humans have killed the Spirit of Life. Then he is sort of for saving the forest, but more focused on killing the humans. Other: He was a god, but is now half-demon and very much weakened from his original state of incredible power. This is because all of his clan of legendary giant cats were wiped out by humans. He can change from cat form to human form, but recently has stopped doing so due to his newfound hatred. He constantly struggles to stop himself from going demon, and has come to seek the Spirit of Life's advice. Unfortunately, the Spirit of Life has been killed by humans.)) Heratamuquesaturimosafj walked into the silent glade at the center of the forest. He let out what would seem to humans as a wild cry, but was in fact a collection of carefully orchestrated sound that carried a message: "Spirit of Life! Where are you?" There was no reply. He called again, and again. Why was there no response? Then he stopped. A sound. Humans. And the unmistakable sound of wood splintering, trees falling. He moved closer, his anger rising. How dare humans invade the last great forest?! They were talking. "Yeah, they all fired, and down it went! We aren't going to be troubled by that no more!" Who? "Oh yes, the Spirit of Life is dead as a doorknob!" What?! He roared, not a normal big cat roar, but a roar that sucked out the souls of those who heard it. The human lumberjacks fell to the ground, dead.
antiaircraft
Arc heard the roar in the distance, and stopped momentarily, identifying it instantly for what it was. He shrugged internally - this was the last great forest after all. He turned his attention back to the board of directors meeting below him. "So it's confirmed then?" "Yes - at 7:30am tomorrow, we gas the whole forest with fluorine. All those filthy animals will be out of our way, as will any 'supernatural' opponents the natives keep blabbering on about." "Your sure that it'll be enough?" "Bah! I would bet my life that they don't even exist! I'm just doing this to get those filthy natives off my back!" Arc leapt off the roof and disappeared. He had heard enough to do his job. At 7:30am the next morning, something went horribly wrong. The helicopters meant to dispense the fluorine gas malfunctioned, instead spreading the gas across the camp. The board of directors blamed sabotage. The local villagers blamed supernatural interference. Arc blamed the lumberjacks for trying to commit such an immoral crime.
Ruto
Sahetow knew of the gassing of the camp. Although the humans were too stupid to completely figure out what went wrong, they were right about the interference of the spirits. The humans' disbelief was going to be their downfall. As long as they didn't keep the guard around spirits, they were just as vulnerable as a deer in a wide meadow. The Spirit of Life is dead. A cry came from some place, giving Sahetow that message. At first there was no reaction, then disbelief, sorrow, and finally anger. How could they do this? How could the humans invade the last sanctuary on Earth and destroy its inhabitants? Sahetow spotted a human down below, beginning to chop a tree. She flew down there, remaining unseen. She spoke softly yet firmly, "If you think this tree is your property, then your body is mine." Sahetow torched the human to a crisp before he could say anything.
antiaircraft
Arc crouched in the shadows, waiting in ambush. He didn't truly care about the forest enough to risk his life for it, but a friend was a friend, and he had to be protected. Several armoured cars passed by, with a bulletproof limousine in their midst. His targets were here. He fired his muscles and ran after the convoy. This time, he thought, the setback to the company will be much more major.
Midtime
How would he stop his transformation now? What would prevent him from becoming the most powerful evil creature to ever walk the earth? Nothing. Nothing. But perhaps he could do one more good thing. Yes. He would destroy the humans who invaded the spirits' last sanctuary. Utterly. The god of the king cats followed the smell of smoke, and headed for the despicable nest of humans.
antiaircraft
The convoy stopped outside the largest building in the lumberjack camp, and several security men moved in, setting up a perimeter. Two bodyguards moved to open the limousine's doors. They found every member of the board of directors dead. Meanwhile, Arc watched from the shadows, satisfied that this would stop the lumberjacks. But it still wouldn't save the forest. The demon he had killed had revealed some information with his last, taunting, breath, mocking Arc for what the demon was sure would be Arc's greatest failure. Arc didn't like being mocked. He liked failure even less. Lost in thought, he left the camp undetected, assimilating himself into the surroundings. Ruto
Sahetow left the body and flew back into the trees. She found TheGod of the King Cats down below, and flew down to him. "Have you seen any other humans in the forest? They will be coming by hundreds, and we have to stop them somehow." The spirit heard the crackling of a campfire from far away. She was able to detect other fires as well as produce them. She paused for a moment, then silently spoke. "The human camp isn't too far from here. It's about a mile away. Are you going there?" Midtime
As Heratamuquesaturimosafj walked, the transformations began. His eyes glowed red, his fur turned black, the air crackled with the power he embodied. The forest around him wilted. A hurricane formed; he was the centre. Lightning struck, repetitive, powerful, deadly. A wave of sheer power radiated from the creature he had become. He had lost the battle. And the creature he was turning into had no mercy, no morality, no feeling except hate. A demon. With more power than the human race had ever seen before. antiaircraft
Arc watched the lumberjacks packing up for a few minutes. They were leaving, the operation had been a failure. Arc didn't care - he wouldn't really have cared if he had known the danger they were about to face. He had more important things to do. He strode off into the forest to complete his mission. Midtime
The hired native lumberjacks, packing their things, saw nothing. They didn't see the glow in the clouds above them. They didn't see the jagged bolt sizzling down from the sky to strike them. But they noticed, all right. As they lay, fused to the car, smoking and smelling of burnt flesh, they realised what had happened. They would never think another thing. antiaircraft
Arc strode confidently into the clearing, invisible to everything around him. There, in the center of the clearing, lay a corpse - it hadn't decayed one bit all these years, in fact it wasn't even dead. The Spirit of Life lay in the clearing, in a deep coma. Arc knew this because he had put his only friend into the coma. Several days ago, a battle with human soldiers had left Arc's friend, the Spirit of Life, severely injured, and he had asked Arc to put him in the accelerated healing trance. He had said that when he was fully healed, there was a time when he would be greatly needed, and that Arc had to awaken him. Arc hesitated before dropping his invisibility spell. He would need every ounce of his strength to revive the Spirit of Life, but any spirits that saw him would think he was a human trespassing on sacred ground, and attempt to kill him. And during the ritual, he would be unable to fight back. He shrugged internally, a friend was a friend after all, and began the ritual of revival. Ruto
Sahetow watched sadly as The God of King Cats underwent his transformation. She didn't want him to get hurt, but there was nothing she could do. As she watched him walk away toward the humans, she saw a single one in the clearing. She quickly flew over there. Sahetow didn't expect to see The Spirit of Life in the clearing. She felt like weeping for the spirit's loss of life. Sahetow glanced at the human, and suddenly became angry. What was he doing? How dare he approach the spirits lifeless body? Yet something told her that he meant no harm. Sahetow decided to hide in the trees and watch the human closely, and if he made any wrong movements, she would immediately kill him. antiaircraft
Arc felt the arrival of a new, powerful presence in the area, and immediately recognised it as a spirit. He didn't let his concentration slip, but focused on letting his energy flow into the Spirit of Life. As the ritual progressed, he could feel the Spirit of Life's presence growing, returning to the world. But something was wrong. Something was tugging at his magic, pulling the energy away from the spell. Arc knew what it was the moment he felt it, but that didn't make it any better. It had started. The disease the demon had sown was spreading, sucking the magic out of its surroundings. Soon it would populate the entire forest, draining the energy from the spell that protected it from harm. The lumberjacks had bypassed the spell, since their weapons were wielded not with anger, but greed, but this forest lived on magic. Without the protective spell, it would soon wither and die, along with the spirits that lived in it. With a new sense of urgency, Arc refocused his magic. The Spirit of Life must be revived! Midtime
No humans must live. This was the only semi-coherent thought of the almost-demon that now was destroying the forest. There was a powerful magic force working nearby. It meant nothing. Villages suddenly combusted in an explosion of pure force, and a firestorm swept the camp, destroying all its occupants. The creature was hardly recognizable now. Porcupine-like spines had sprouted. Its eyes projected beams of heat. A chattering sound. The creature looked at the man shooting the machine gun at him, and he ((the man, my character is pretty much an 'it' now)) burst into flames, screaming incoherently until he sunk into oblivion. Only the love of a friend could save the creature from demonhood, a friend with magical power, a friend like the Spirit of Life.
antiaircraft
Arc sensed death in the distance, but he ignored it. He remained completely focused on his task. The Spirit of Life must be revived! The sentence repeated over and over in his head. He released more and more energy into the body, and he could sense its organs coming to life, its mind slowly beginning to run. But the disease was becoming stronger. More and more of the magic was sucked away, until Arc finally realised that he couldn't do it. He didn't have the power to reawaken the Spirit of Life. He needed more, but he couldn't get it. And he couldn't stop the ritual now either. Frustrated, he kept at it, slowly draining his own reserves, but he knew it wouldn't work. He needed more magic to complete the ritual. Midtime
((But I don't want to be the antagonist in this RP! :O )) The landmass was now overwhelmed, lifeless except for the shrinking forest at its coast. An enormous hurricane blotted out the sun. The spirits were dying with the forest. The creature that was the cause walked across the water, turning it into poison. As it moved, the storm expanded. No human force could stop it now. The land it left behind was charred black. Not even bacteria could survive on it. The humans on the opposite coast, blissfully relaxing at the beach, did not know the danger they were in. They did not know that they would first-handedly experience the end of the world. antiaircraft
((Well technically you're not an antagonist, you're just immensely angry. And the disease was seeded by that other demon, not you)) Arc felt his remaining life force draining away, and continued to ignore it. He was completely focused on the ritual. He would carry it out to the best of his abilities, even if that meant his death.
Midtime
((Well technically you're not an antagonist, you're just immensely angry. And the disease was seeded by that other demon, not you)) (( The disease only takes away the protective spell around the forest. It doesn't destroy it - that's my job)) "Hey, what's that on the horizon?" one man asked his wife. "Looks like it's going to rain." The once-god had speeded up. So had the storm's expansion. Evaporated water-turned-poison rolled onto the beach. Those who inhaled it contorted in spasms, then collapsed, dead. The feet of the creature crossed from the rapidly drying sea to dry land. Blight spread, the earth turned black. Buildings exploded. Plants wilted. Animals died. The world shook.

Ruto
((Sorry guys, I've been a little busy.)) Sahetow searched around her and found that the forest and its inhabitants were dying. She then looked at the spirit's body, then back at the forest, then at Arc. Sahetow flew over to him. "The God of King Cats is destroying the forest. If you wish to live and revive the Spirit of Life's body, then grab it and follow me, quickly!" Sahetow quickly flew to the edge of the clearing. He must be calmed, before he destroys the world....but how?
