Bye Bye Appendix!

So, this is a little delayed, but hey /shrug.

This happened Friday into Saturday July 20-21 [yes, when HP7 came out].

To make a long story short...

I got appendicitis at my friend's house that Friday night, the same day my mom was at the hospital getting a major surgery done. We didn't think to go to the ER until Saturday morning, which, soon after arriving, they did tests and found that my white blood cell count was very high. They did a CAT/CT scan on me and found that my appendix was pretty much massive. After that they got me into surgery within a half hour and took the useless annoyance out.

I was in the hospital for 2 days, and on a liquid diet. I'm fine now though...

I was in a lot of pain at first and I was upset b/c I couldn't get my HP book at midnight...

but now I never have to worry about it again! :D lol.

So, has anyone else had an appendectomy? (gotten their appendix removed)

Haven't had to yet, but congrats on not having to worry about that health problem anymore. The worst I've had are my very stubborn wisdom teeth and my sprained ankle which wasn't bad enough to need surgery but will take an entire year to be 100% unless it gets hurt again.

Well hopefully you won't have it at all. I was relieved when the doctor told me it what it was because I knew it meant that the pain would go away fairly soon. Ugh, I go to my dentist this Friday and I'm sure they are going to talk about my in-coming wisdom teeth. =[ sorry about your ankle.

S'okay, best of luck with your wisdom teeth, it's the bleeding and lack of being able to spit for about a week that'll get you. Having gauze in your numbed mouth for hours at a time and drinking nothing but water for the first day or so is awful.

I had my appendix out last year, 3 days before my final exams >.< I didn't have all the tests you did though! They just did a blood test, waited 36 hours and then took me in for surgery...

o_O 3 days before finals! yeesh! lol.

They did a blood and urine test on me as soon as I got there and 2 hrs later was when they came in and said that my white blood cell count was high. They did ANOTHER blood test the following morning (at 5:30AM might I add... -_- curse that darn moody nurse... she was mean). I hate IVs. *shivers*

Was yours an emergency, because I know with the pain I had there was NO way I could have waited 36 hours.

I didn't think I could wait either, it was horrible! They weren't sure what it was at first though so they decided to wait and see if it would go away on its own. I had to have a fair bit of morphine and I couldn't sleep.

Pretty much all the hospital sevices here are public, and its not like the US where most people have private health insurance, so I had to wait for them to get to me, which was the biggest part of the wait.
