I was wondering, is it possible to make a profit with your neohome?

Because whenever i want to sell it i see stuff like this:

 

Based on the current value of the NeoDAQ Index, you can sell your property back to the Neopian Bank and receive the following for it.

 

Property 2,500 NP Rooms (3) 5600 NP Extensions: 3,312 NP Total

11,412 NP

Does the value of your neohome really depends on the NeoDaq?, because that would be amazing O.o
