CSS help please: how do you add a box to put css code in?

I'm making an adoptables section in a pet app and want to put the code of the images below in a scroll box, but it just turns the codes into the image. How do I make it so it stays as coding?

This should be a very simple fix for you. The codes you need are:

<textarea> </textarea>
