Help Me Create a BD Set?

Hi there. I'm not new to the BD but I honestly don't play much unless I have to (defeating wraiths/avvies). But I know with this war, I need to get my act together.

Here are my neopet's stats:

Level: 41

HP:328

Attack: 170

Defense: 19

Agility: 117

Intelligence: 37

No abilities except static cling.

Yeah she's a labbie but actually did a decent job with wraiths. I used golden compasses but sold them a while back.

I have the following items but need some help in putting together a decent set:

Snowglobe Staff

Psellias Fighting Fan

Snowball Slingshot

Ancient Shenkuu Cannon
Haunted Skull Fan
Ridiculously Heavy Battle Hammer
The Astronomy Club
I'm willing to drop 500k or so on new items.
Help/Advice would be so greatly appreciated!

Since your defense is so low, I wouldn't worry about defense or shields. In fact, I suggest you don't even look at dual duties either. Your best option is probably to try to out-power your opponent and kill them quickly before they can do too much damage to you. You could try to increase your defense to try to make it worthwhile, but spending 500k on Armoured Neggs would get you only 12 defense points -- not even to the 35 boost. (If you're not sure how defense works, read about it in the Battlepedia guide. When my lab rat had stats like yours, I didn't know, and I was focused on dual duties even though they weren't helping me much.)

Right now, you have a 20% freezer, 5 constants, and 1 dual duty. You can probably sell some of the attack and dual duty weapons, since you really only need 1-3. I have 2 constants, and I really only use one of them because it's the strongest, and I need two only for when I use them both at the same time. The weapons you have with the most icons are your Psellias Fighting Fan and Ridiculously Heavy Battle Hammer. The others are all fewer attack icons, so you should keep these two and sell the rest. If you want to upgrade these, some good options are a 10- or 11-iconer like Scuzzys Comb, Ramtors Spellbook, Bow of the Fire Faerie, Altadorian Halberd, or Scroll of Ultranova.

You probably also want a healer. Greater Healing Scroll is a popular one, but consequently it's inflated right now. If you'd rather pay less, Velms Healing Potion is good for lab rats. It will heal you more than a Lesser Healing Scroll and be better than the GHS when you zap your pet over 500 HP. So, if you plan to keep zapping for awhile, I would go for Velms instead of GHS.

You could also benefit from a bomb of some kind. If you're using a freezing strategy, hitting your opponent with a bomb while they're frozen is the way to go! Plus, bombs significantly help you in your killing-them-quickly strategy. Honey Potion is an option, but they are pretty expensive for the number of icons they deal. Your best bet might just be stocking up on one-use 15-icon muffins like Shooting Star Muffin, Brain Muffin, or Radioactive Muffin, or the equivalent 15-icon Swift Darkfire Negg Bomb.

I would also recommend upgrading your freezer, since a 20% freezer means you have to use it on average for 5 turns to freeze your opponent, and that doesn't work for you because you don't want your battle to last 5 turns. With the new Battledome, you can't withdraw if your freeze doesn't work like in the old BD, so you might have a harder time. However, you might not be able to upgrade on your budget. Just in case, your under-500k option is Scroll of Freezing, unless you can get a species freezer. (Randomly Firing Freeze Ray was under 500k until the inflation.) Alternatively, you could just start training your level and buying faeries instead to get to a faerie ability that gives you a 100% freeze. It'll be cheaper than getting a decent freezer, but it will take you longer because of the necessary training.

Also, train! I had pretty much given up on training my lab rat until someone showed me how much more damage I really could do. If you can get to the 200 strength boost, you can do 81 damage in one round (18 icons * 4.5 boost) instead of the 54 (18 icons * 3 boost) you can do now. Plus, your pet isn't that far away from being able to train. Just get the level up, which you probably want to do anyway so you can use abilities, and then you can train all your stats, as well as keep labbing. Most of the time, increasing stats is a lot more cost-effective than upgrading weapons, especially beyond the 10-icon weapons. Granted, if you're not much of a battler, you might not want to, but if you think you might become a battler in the future, do it now before it seems impossible. (Like with my pet. She has over 800 HP, and is only level 145. She'll get there someday. I have faith.)
