Usually, it refers to prices on EVERYTHING going up, but on neopets we usually think of individual items going up. The inflation of individual items is caused either by a decrease in supply or an increase in demand. That is, either fewer are around because they stopped releasing it, or for some reason, people want more of them. The healing potions will be in demand more because you can no longer heal in the Battledome by winning a battle.
