lilllisan
Iiihk! I'm so excited, I wanted to share this with you guys! I got to spot as an intern at a preschool and the government will give me stipend for it! Not a lot of money, but since I still live at home I don't really have too many expenses and I'm planning on saving the money I make. I'm still really excited, I do High School online so I basically just sit at home all day not doing anything. It feels so great to get work experience and hopefully it will look good on my CV in the future! :) And if anybody has any tips about how to be the perfect intern or any good advice about working with children, please share! I'm a bit worried about the first few days before the kids get used to having me around. :) Finn the Human and hrtbrk
Welcome Back Apathy
That's fantastic! Working with children is fun. My sole piece of advice is to have energy. You can smile, you can say nice things, but none of it counts if you don't have the energy and enthusiasm behind it. I used to do jumping jacks in the morning to keep me pumped and ready to go. Now I can't do jumping jacks anymore, but my physical therapy keeps the blood pumping. It works way better than caffeine. vyvren, lilllisan and Finn the Human
Rebecca~
Congrats! That is so fantastic. :D I agree with Karina- kids can tell if you aren't enthused, and will respond to you accordingly. If you go in there excited, and with a tonne of energy, they'll respond to you with excitment and energy too. :D
karmacow
Congrats! :D It sounds like you're well on your way to be a good intern, with all the enthusiasm you're expressing about getting the internship. Like Karina and Rebecca says, that's really important. Basically I think you should make yourself at home at your new workplace so you'll be seen as being comfortable there (while being professional, of course), take initiative to interact with the kids and just get involved. good luck on your first day :) vyvren
vyvren
Congrats, Isa, that is indeed worth a big yay :D I think you've already been offered some really great advice (smiles and energy, haha) and I totally agree with Karma - it already sounds as if you'd be an amazing intern with all the enthusiasm you've already displayed :) Good luck! (Here's a celebratory happy dance for you, too :happydance: )
lilllisan
Thank you guys so much!! I hadn't given any thought to the energy part at all, but I can see how it's really important. I'll make sure to get a good nights sleep and eat breakfast before I start in the morning! :D
ezza
Eat lots of chocolate. :P Wear something comfortable. Always smile (even if you're losing your temper). Be patient. Anyway, super congratulations!
