skylee Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 haha seriously! and you're absolutely right, its more fun when you actually earn things Quote
Welcome Back Apathy Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 I make people work for their freebies. I am actually really good about giving away free stuff when I'm in a good mood, or to thank people, etc. But the person has to earn it in some way. If they did something nice for me, I like to do something nice for them. If they made me smile, then that's worthy of a gift. I also give away a lot of gifts to people who have been scammed/hacked/unlawfully frozen, because then I know they've worked for it in the past. Not if they come begging for it, though. I'd like a gift to be a pleasant surprise, not an "I'm entitled to this." You didn't post what you actually said word for word, so I can't say for certain you weren't too harsh. No, wait. Yes, I can say for certain you were not. Begging is against the rules. These people are being jerks. How is it that YOU'RE somehow the bad guy when they're breaking the rules and trying to get freebies? Quote
monabaka Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 I didn't know the newbies are so rude these days! You're really not too mean!!! I don't give newbies things either. I'm willing to give tips, but that's where I stop. Quote
karmacow Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 I got a weird nm too this week, and from a 51 month old account too.... "could i have one of your poogles for one of my mutants please" Note that I have 2 MSPP (can you say underoffer? XD) and they are NOT UFT nor have I ever advertised them as UFT. Something like this happened a couple times before. I noticed that it always happens when either I win at the wishing well, or one of my pets gets notable. So if my username gets published somewhere on the site. Did you win in the caption contest/ art gallery/ anything else where they would publish your name? did you have something put in the NT? And, they were very rude. I would surely ave reported. At least mine said please XD That reminds me of the time someone neomailed me saying that she liked my lab pet and that it was her birthday, suggesting that she would like me to give it to her as a present o_O I didn't respond. That was just so random. I've never talked to this person in my life. Quote
Dynohawk Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 There are a lot of immature little girls on neopets, best just to ignore them. Quote
ickle_party_cat Posted July 6, 2012 Author Posted July 6, 2012 I was kind of wondering that too! Do you post on the newbies board or something? o_O I have had quite a few items in the trading post recently - been clearing out a lot of paint brushes and thats how the one found me they said but I dont use neoboards at all so this is the only thing I can think of. That and I have sold some mega cheap stuffs in my shop to clear out too but thats it ??? Quote
Spritzie Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 o_O People are ridiculous. Like everyone else said, you weren't being harsh. Yes, sometimes it's nice to help out newer members. I've often helped people that way, but it was never someone who asked for donations or anything. It would be generally someone I had lent to through the ALP, and afterwards we started talking, or they asked a question about a change on the site since they had been on it last, and I offer. I have gotten random NMs asking for things, or asking about my pets, or even just complimenting my pets, generally after placing items on the TP for avatar lends. Apparently when a name is published somewhere, whether it be trades, auctions, contests, whatever, some people scope out those accounts. Quote
Rebecca~ Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 I have had quite a few items in the trading post recently - been clearing out a lot of paint brushes and thats how the one found me they said but I dont use neoboards at all so this is the only thing I can think of. That and I have sold some mega cheap stuffs in my shop to clear out too but thats it ??? Ah, yeah, that makes sense. They probably were looking for the paintbrushes they would need for their dreamies, and figured you were rich, and they were entitled. :B Quote
AngelBones Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 Awww wow, it's so horrible that they did that to you! You weren't harsh at all! Yeah, they probably scouted you out through your trades. I can't imagine that people actually do that... I never understand why people scam others because part of the fun of Neopets is earning rare and expensive things. Just ignore these people hun, sounds like they are just bullies, and not worth your niceness :3. Quote
