I had the same trouble when I wanted to set my avatar. I subcomed to the will of the master of avatars and chose another one instead. Have you checked the file size for the image that you wanted to upload? It's supposed to be 100 KB Maximum, anything over that will not load. Actually, this sounds like a better idea. Whenever I change mine, I'll import a new one, save, and it'll appear later on that day, or the next day.
