Hi friends, and welcome back, for the second to last time this year, to The Daily Cupcake’s coverage of the seventh annual Altador Cup! Wait. Neopets. The Daily Neopets. Not Cupcakes. Though I really could go for a cupcake right now....

“[speaker crackle] Cupcakes? I like cupcakes! I have cake mix! We could make some!”

Yes... yes we could... but results first! Fans witnessed an intense day of competition yesterday with some surprising upsets. The first came from the Faerieland and Moltara match. Faerieland has been struggling lately, likely due to lack of practice from spending too much time in the rainbow pool in this warm weather. However, the Faeries pulled off TWO, count em’ TWO, wins against rival Moltara yesterday! The Faeries took both Make Some Noise and Shootout Showdown, and also scored a draw in Slushie Slinger! Not bad, not bad at all.

Another exciting match came from Meridell and Haunted Woods. Meridell has been too hot to touch lately, but Haunted Woods dampened their streak with a draw in Make Some Noise yesterday, preventing the Knights from achieving a full-bracket sweep. While Meridell will likely rebound tomorrow, it was a tough blow for the Knights and a huge achievement for the Zombies

The Alabriss Bracket was rounded out with the match between Terror Mountain and Virtupets, one that stayed fairly close all day. In the end, Virtupets took Yooyuball and Make some Noise, while Terror Mountain skated away with Shootout Showdown and a draw in Slushie Slinger. Good showing from both teams and we wish them the best in today’s final matches.

Another huge upset comes to us from the Minitheus Bracket and the pairing of Mystery Island and Lost Desert. Mystery Island is another team that has been on a roll lately, currently tied with Meridell for second place overall in the competition. The Mummies threw a sand dune in their path yesterday, stealing Shootout Showdown and coming up with a draw in Slushie Slinger. With Darigan hot on their heels, Mystery Island will be giving their all today to secure a podium finish.

The match between Roo Island and Shenkuu was a nail-biter. Roo Island has really been holding their own in this bracket, and yesterday was no different. The Rooligans bounced their way into victories in both Make Some Noise and Shootout Showdown, only slowing down when Shenkuu rallied to force draws in Yooyuball and Slushie Slinger. After to chatting up some Rooligans earlier at the Plushie Pavillion, it’s clear that they’re eager to get back to their new game room on Roo Island and resume practice for Daily Dare season.

Yet another close match was seen in the battle between Kiko Lake and Brightvale. Brightvale came out on top with victories in Yooyuball and Shootout Showdown. It was no surprise when Kiko Lake took the win in Slushie Slinger, a game they have been doing well in this season, and fans were excited for their win in Make Some Noise, in which they have been a little inconsistent lately.

As we turn to the Vaelous Bracket, we encounter another surprise as the seventeenth-place Altador snapped up a win in Slushie Slinger against the Maraquan Mermaids yesterday. Altador has surprised many this season with wins over some powerhouse teams, the likes of Krawk Island, Darigan and now Maraqua. With improved consistency, Altador could truly become a force to be reckoned with, so keep an eye out for them in the next few years.

The match everyone had their eye on today was that between Kreludor and Darigan Citadel. With Darigan owning the bracket so far, fans were hoping they would be the ones to finally slow Kreludor, but the Moons could not be touched, as they went on to sweep the Minions, putting an end to their perfect bracket record. With the tournament unofficially in the bag for Kreludor, they will be able to relax today and have some fun.

The final match comes from Tyrannia and Krawk Island. The Pirates have been struggling a little as of late, facing some of the toughest teams this week. They got back into their stride today with wins against Tyrannia across the board, with the exception of Make Some Noise, which the Fossils have been doing fairly well in. Good luck to both teams in the final day of competition.

Today, we come to the end of a long, exciting, frustrating, riveting, and fun tournament. In the last matches for the Alabriss Bracket, we’ll watch Terror Mountain take on the Haunted Woods, Meridell battle Faerieland and Virtupets duel Moltara. The Minitheus Bracket, brought to you by Miss Moehog’s Keyquest Mini-Games no less, will feature Brightvale, Shenkuu and Roo Island versus Lost Desert, Kiko Lake and Mystery Island, while the Vaelous Bracket will finish with Krawk Island facing off against old rivals Darigan Citadel, Kreludor sitting pretty against Altador and Maraqua going up against Tyrannia.

Thanks you everyone for another great day of competition. We’ll be seeing you tomorrow for our final coverage from Altador Cup VII. This is Emily signing off from TDN headquarters and going to find cupcakes!
