What happens if your team does not win?

If your team doesn't win... Well then you don't win.

Theres no best team. Last year's winner is expected to fall from grace, and no one knows for sure which of the top teams can dominate on the new system.

You get prize points for playing the games once the AC starts. You need to play ALOT to earn anything good though. And you'll hurt your team if you don't play alot, anyway. You use the prize points to buy things from a prize shop that is released when the AC ends.

It is far more important that YOU personally do well than that your team do well.

Far more important in terms of prizes, at least.

As of last year, trophies you get are based on what rank YOU attain, rather than where your team is in the finals. And the prizes are always based on how much you play.

Good luck! Have you joined a team yet? I bet you can guess which one I'm on :-P

Well, it seems like the more consistent teams are Krawk Island, Darigan Citadel, Kreludor, Maraqua...but you should join a team you like and not just one you assume will win. It's well-established that winners of the previous year befall a 'curse' wherein they plummet in the next year's rankings. From what I understand, it's due to an influx of freeloaders who join that team the next year and just sit around doing nothing. There're also apparently roving bands of 'All-Stars', i.e. dedicated players who pick different teams each year and produce big results in games, but I don't know as much about that. If you want your team to win, you have play and contribute to its earnings.

Also, sometimes teams that were strong in the past don't perform as well later (Shenkuu, Mystery Island), so you can't take anything for granted. Even the perpetual bottom-dwellers (such as Faerieland, Altador) have dedicated fans. So as stated before, pick a team you like and are willing to root for over a 'free ride.' Be sure to play the games too!

As far as prizes, you get participation medals for your user lookup and the more you play, the nicer the medal. Members of top ranking teams get a trophy. Beyond that, it depends on what's available in the Altador Cup prize shop at the conclusion of the tourney. There are team items and toys and even a paintbrush! But if you want any of those prizes you have to play the AC games and if you want the better prizes (or multiples of any prize), you have to play a lot.

Hope that answers some questions. If you haven't yet picked a team, try Terror Mountain! We're the 'coolest.' :P

And up until last year, the Lost Desert had never been below fifth place, so that was pretty consistent. Though 13th is quite the curse's drop...

If you're still deciding, you can go pick your favorite pet and see which paintbrush/clothes looks best on it, or which land you've always liked to visit.
