Question about shop prices?

I'm sort of a noob so forgive me if this is an obvious question but I was just wondering why the shops sell things uber sheap sometimes. I've only really seen it happen on one day a few weeks ago but it was awesome. Things that were usually lets say 1000 np were being sold for 300-400 np. Does this happen often or was it some kind of fluke?

The 3rd of every month is half price day, where all Neopian shops will sell their stock at half price :D
