Welcome Back Apathy
Thanks for the heads up. I hadn't heard this, actually, but I'm definitely going to look it up now. According to the reports right now, a tsunami isn't likely--which is good! There's definitely a tsunami watch, just in case, but apparently it's unlikely. Then again, the reports that I got that from might just be saying it's unlikely that the waves will hit their particular country. So it might hit some countries that those reports simply didn't care about. I know how this goes...
Saxen
It's in a similar place to 2004... I'm very very worried. Apparently some sea levels have risen in some areas. 2004 was 9.1,this was 8.6. Will be watching the news all day and preying nothing happens.
Nataluna
currently all tsunami warnings have been cancelled, as the type of movement seen in the earthquake is different and unlikely to generate a tsunami like the one on boxing day, thank goodness. as i heard it on numerous channels this evening, and just checked it on the news too. no reports of mass damages or any fatalities so far *fingers crossed* tsunami warnings give me the chills. our family was overseas in the area in 2004 and as we had a family emergency get worse which meant we changed our plans and did not go to Puket for Christmas as planned, changed plans on christmas eve night.. Emily
Ya, they had it on the news this morning and were talking about 2004. I don't know how many more that area can take before it just ends up under water...
