Bubbleline Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 I find that playing the games with the sound on make me more tense and less likely to score high because of that. When getting the Cooty Wars score today, having the game music on made me do horribly, but muting the music and turning on my own relaxed me a bit and helped me score pretty high :) What about you guys? Does it help to have the game music on or muted? Does having your own music help you or distract you? I wanna know! :O
Zorse Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 OFF! I hate all game music and sound effects lol I just find them annoying and the annoyingness distracts me. :P I prefer to listen to my own music and do better in games when I do. hrtbrk 1
Bubbleline Posted March 13, 2012 Author Posted March 13, 2012 Hehe, the music can get a little nerve-wracking (I'm looking at you Meepit Juice Break). The cheery repetitiveness almost seems like it's mocking you after a while...teasing because it knows you will never get that high score...*sob*
Ruka Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 ^I kinda agree with you on the Meepit Juice Break music... xD I work (or in this case, play) best when there is complete silence. But I listen to my own music at times too!
GuardianAwesome Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 I always play in silence, because usually I've never played the games before and need to concentrate.
Airotia Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 I always either play my own music, or play games while I'm watching television. Sitting in silence makes me feel way too 'on edge,' and playing the game music tends to annoy more than anything else. If it's something I'm doing for a score — like Daily Dare — I need music, but if it's something I'm doing for the points, I do it while I'm watching TV.
Ruka Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 All this while, I've been playing Cooty Wars in complete silence, but failed to beat AAA. A while ago, I tried playing it with my own music on... AND IT WORKED! I BEAT AAA! I'M SO HAPPY!!! :D
Lydia Trebond Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 If I play music, it's my own. I can't STAND the music they attach to any of the games. Though I do like playing my own quite a bit!
Bubbleline Posted March 13, 2012 Author Posted March 13, 2012 Congrats, Evil Bunny! You have learned the power of MUSIC! lol
Nataluna Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 i usually let it play for a bit, but i get fed up with it fast. i always turn the sounds off when i'm playing dailies for that reason. new games i'll play the first game with sound and after that, it takes a few more games for me to turn it off :) i usually then have whatever tv show i'm watching playing instead as i still have not bothered to re-create my itunes library after i got the new computer :P
passiflora Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 Depends on the game. If it's something I don't play often, I'll usually keep the sound on. But if it's something more "mindless" to me (like Roodoku, Kou-Jong, Bouncy Supreme, etc.), I'll play my own music. I'm just not a big fan of silence!
MaraquanEyrie Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 Most of the time I need the music off to get the best score but ocassionally a methodic tune that is not to interesting can help me get into the rythm of the game.
Aalnius Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 on real games i.e. console pc i have the music on along with sound effects as it improves game playing ability but on flash/ds games i turn it off because its normally annoying as hell and really bad quality granted some games are an exception but i'm sure flash game makers don't understand how annoying their music and sound effects can get.
Ruka Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 Congrats, Evil Bunny! You have learned the power of MUSIC! lol :laughingsmiley: Thanks! To my surprise, the power of MUSIC actually helps me to concentrate better (at least in Cooty Wars)! :laughingsmiley:
Bubbleline Posted March 13, 2012 Author Posted March 13, 2012 Funny enough, when playing console games or real pc games, music distracts me (unless its an rpg).
Angeló Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 Music off .. definitely off !! however sometimes I keep the sound effects on ... they help in certain situations ...
Bubbleline Posted March 13, 2012 Author Posted March 13, 2012 Everyone hates game music. Duly noted. And I thought I was the only one. XD
blabberfingers Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 Music off, for sure. The repetition gets annoying.
Suus Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 Usually I don't really mind the music. But with the daily dare, I really feel like I have to turn it off, or otherwise I can't concentrate well enough.
Zafie Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 I also prefer to play the games with the music turned off. :)
skylee Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 i always turn the music off. its usually really annoying/distracting
muppetelle Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 I always have the sound off pc, because my son will mostly be watching TV/playing/talking to me whilst I'm on the pc, so it wouldn't only drive him bonkers but me too! Even if he's not about tho, or hubbie, I still have it off, the music drives me potty  :weird:
keiwo Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 I mute the music in pretty much every Neopets game I play so I can listen to my own music while playing. Definitely helps me play better.
Bubbleline Posted March 13, 2012 Author Posted March 13, 2012 Listened to my own music while doing today's challenge. Never played Gwyl's Great Adventure and I'm glad. Stupid glitch where you can't go to the next level sometimes almost drove me crazy, but I got it. With the power of Music, mua hahaha!
neon_nightingale Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 I usually play with the music and sound effects off - I just find them so irritating. It's so annoying that you can't turn off the sound on Kass Basher. The only game I don't mind the sound effects on is TNT Staff Smasher - I do better when I can hear the sounds.
