Nika
I just logged onto my account and I now have just 164,000 shares of stock, down from 415,000 shares and a bank account of 43,705 NP, down from about 4 million. ALL OF MY GALLERY IS EMPTY AND GONE. I have to be honest: I am panicking. Who did this? How?? Can everyone help me take steps to make sure the rest of my stuff isn't stolen? Here's what I've done so far: -Changed my password -Changed my email -Put a pin on everything What else can I do? Can I file a ticket or is that useless? Thank goodness they didn't dump my pets, but all my work is totally undone.
Xepha
Neopets-wise, you can go to your preferences and check for the new birthday security setting: Login Birthday Prompt Check this box if you want to be prompted for your birthday (in addition to your password) when your account is accessed from an unfamiliar location. This is an additional security feature and is highly recommended! It's a good practice to change your password often, use a different passwords for each thing you do on the web. TDN has several articles on account and security, which I highly recommend you to read.
Nika
Thanks, Xepha, I'll do that right away. Since all my worthwhile items are gone, do you guys think TNT could see if someone traded my items to themselves? Or where my NP went? I know it happens to people all the time, but this is so sad. I just finished midsems (I got 4 hours of sleep in the last 2 days) and wanted to finally do Neopets stuff before going out. Now I want to throw myself a pity party. Viridian
TNT can trace trades, shop sales en items given away. If you report the fact that money and items are missing, they are possibly able to get the person who did it. They won't give any of it back however (I experienced it myself). I understand it makes you sad, but I hope you can rebuild. Here's a virtual hug *hug*":)
Nika
Thanks for the advice and the hug, Viridian. Even though my roommates don't understand my love of Neopets, they all hugged me too :laughingsmiley: I'll just be grateful they left some stock and a little bit of NP to rebuild with. And I'll cross my fingers they find the cheater who did this! When I send the ticket, should I choose "Scammed?" from the dropdown menu, or something else? splint
I heard TNT gives back NP+items in certain situations. Not entirely sure how often that happens though.
Viridian
Yeah find something in which you can say that your account has been infiltrated but you still got it back (so that it doesn't get frozen for protection).
Sweetdang
Well, they've given all the suggestions. I'm here to say At least they left a lil something, right? :) And you can rebuild! I know, though, how very very infuriating it must be. But all the best and at least you got your account back! And hopefully, just hopefully, you MAY get your items or NP back. Just hopefully. :D
