UC pets questions?

UC pets are sought after because they have the old, pre-customization art. Only certain color-species combinations were allowed to remain unconverted, and thus there are very very few in existance. I don't recally the exact date the full conversion went into effect, but it is not possible to create an UC pet.

Some people prefer UC pets becuase they like the old art. Some seem to think there is a sort of status attached to having a UC pet.

Any age pet can be converted. Most pets where converted automatically when Neopets introduced customization. When this change happened some people choose not to convert their pets (this was only allowed with certian colors/species royal & plushie the most common). This lead to UC pets.

Customization was introduced in April 27th 2007, so a pet had to be created and painted one of the colors that would remain unconverted before this date.

It's pretty obvious: A UC pet has a non-standard pose. It won't match the base pose of it's species, that is. Even mutant, Maraquan, and baby roughly match up to their species' base pose whern converted. And if you still can't tell, check the Rainbow Pool for the converted version and compare.

how do i know if a pet is converted or UC?

Mind if I give you a few examples of what I mean?

Here are some example converted pets (modern artwork), these ones can be customized with clothes, trinkets, etc.:

Here are the same colour pets, only unconverted (vintage artwork), these pets can't wear clothes and such, but can still be given backgrounds however:

Vypath's petpage has a list of all colour pets than be left unconverted.
