Gensei
So currently I have a Tear in my set, and I always find myself saving till the end of the battle for an offensive push with G-bomb or a constant.. It's nature is defensive, and it's service is nearly one of a kind, but I've been wondering if it's more useful to have that slot dedicated to a shield or something that will remain with you throughout the battle.. Being able to Berserk attack with impunity is invaluable, but at the same time, you're still sacrificing an entire slot that could otherwise go to something that will allow you to possibly block more throughout the battle. Without Tear, you can have a Faerie Tabard, Pirate Captains Hat, Hanso Charisma Charm, two constants, Ghostkerbomb, a full heal and a 100% freeze.. You won't get the full defense of T-Tear, but anyone that comes along weilding dark, light, earth, or even fire will be met with some serious resistance because you'll be able to defend and still get some damage through.. Air as always, is the hardest thing to block, so if some one comes at you with Ari and Reif, then you're not gonna be able to play too defensively for the most part. Tear also consumes 40mil :P Thoughts?
Noog
What's the rest of your set? If you have a mediocre set, honestly I would sell the tear to get some other good equipment.

The rest of my set is solid (I think).. Lev, PCC, Reif, G-Bomb, Hanso Charisma Charm, Heavy Blue Tunic, T-Tear, and the last slot is populated by whatever I have laying around until I find a good deal on a shield. Noog
I would keep the tear and just save up for a shield in that case. :)
Roddy
Why don't you put a freezer in the last slot?
The Meepit Commando
Also my recommendation for a shield would be the faerie tabard, the G-Shield is great, but its a tad-bit outdated, as the icons it blocks are known to be susceptible to blockage easily (*cough*Sword Of Skardsen*cough*), but FTab blocks some of the harder-to-block elements, also combined w/ ring of the lost or MoC it creates an almost unbeatable defense while also providing decent offense. Also I dont do high level BD'ing but I am on the battlepedia for 2-3 hours a day, also I know you didn't ask for a FTab vs GShield comparison, but while why where on the defense topic, I thought it would be helpful. :graduated:

It's a great item, but you aren't gonna be blocking dark enough to justify it especially when you can cover yourself defensively and offensively with Ftab and RoTL.. Thanks for the advice :)
nikh
Tear's a bad defensive weapon! Maybe you could just give it to me! ;) Just kidding, your set is what I would call legendary. Don't sell the tear! Never! Unless... you give it to me! ;)

Don't sell the tear! Never! Unless... you give it to me! ;) My set isn't legendary :P I see people running around with moehog skulls, grapes of wrath, and various other things I'll never be able to afford haha I'd only sell it if it reached it's old height of 85mil again, then buy another one when it deflates.. Typical BD stuff :D Kind of off topic, but what's the opinion on the Ghostkersword around here? Good? bad? amazing? not worth the price? Noog
Eh, I prefer the Sword of White Lies, unless you're at the level where you'll run into someone with a Tornado Ring.
Gensei
Eh, I prefer the Sword of White Lies, unless you're at the level where you'll run into someone with a Tornado Ring. Tornado Ring kills G-sword whereas Pirate Captains Hat decimates sword of white lies.. You're definitely gonna run into more light blokers at lower levels I think. Noog
Oh, woops, I got them mixed up. I was thinking that SoWL did the air. xD But I would only get G-Sword if you're on such an advanced level that you really need it. Shadow Shield also blocks all light of SoWL. I think G-sword and SoWL's both have the potential to do 31 damage - That's huge and on the level of G-bomb.. Using something like that consistently throughout a battle will certainly change the tide of the game if you hit big at the right time. Of course, we don't know averages, but if it averages more than the other middle-top tier swords, then it can be worth if you're at a decent league level.. Battles aren't likely to last long enough at lower levels to justify the price tag, but even then, a G-bomb level push at any level can be devastating. Nothing blocks fully blocks air at a decent price level.. Light blockers can be acquired a lot cheaper, which also means SoWL's is more compromised. Pirate Dante
Pshaw. T-Tear is definately worth it, especially in 1-P. If you think about it, you can either choose to pay the 40M, or buy Thick Smoke Bombs till you go past 40M (AKA 4000 bombs) Now, 4000 bombs can sound ridiculous, but when you need the wins, they add up quickly. And, it can always be sold forward at a later time. Just wait for a plot with battling and sell it for profit.
mikeperetz
I'd sell pcc and replace it with sword of ari just for the extra monies. And then def get a freezer. Ditch Gbomb too because at that level its just a few extra icons and those neopoints can go towards something else (like a freezer). I'd say ttear isn't worth it... just buy lots of tsbs if you really need to. :P people say "you can sell the ttear though", well those people lost 30mil (300 TSBs) in deflation in the last few months :P One more level higher and maybe get it but then it'll just be a battle of multi healing, etc. (okay, maybe a few levels but...) Eh, I prefer the Sword of White Lies, unless you're at the level where you'll run into someone with a Tornado Ring. The only reason to use tring is to multi steal... not to block air. That's like how people here trash battle plunger and gpa when the point isn't the full block... it's the fact that at low levels, unblockable damage like that is ridiculous. ECC+BPlunger every turn when your opponent does less than 30 damage means you are invincible and they will die no matter what (unless they have an ECC, in which case you carry a constant for the moment) This post has been edited by a member of staff (Spritzie) because of a violation of the forum rules. PCC and Ari are at nearly the same price point right now.. Ari is about 10.6 and PCC is about 10.8-11 I think.. I acquired a freezer and g-bomb at the same time .. I didn't know T-Tear deflated that much in the last 2 months :O At high levels, SoL is also an amazing weapon.. 5k HP will definitely be enough endurance to take advantage of the multi-heal and multi-freeze. Pirate Dante
people say "you can sell the ttear though", well those people lost 30mil (300 TSBs) in deflation in the last few months 3000 TSBs. But, like I said, it WILL inflate if we get a plot with battling. If I had the pure in hand, I would get a T-Tear right now, use it until the battling begins and it reaches the peak of it's price, sell it, use the profit to use TSBs during the even if needed, and then buy it back after it drops back to these stupidly deflated prices. IF there is battling, that's definitely the plan.. Personally, I'd rather have pure to put into investments that usually come after plots then worry about getting points from battling and spending nps on TSBs.. One use items are really a waste of money except for completing DoN quests, otherwise you're just dumping away pure that could go towards a T-Tear or Lev. Pirate Dante
Hah. Ever done 1-P tourneys and aiming for a win in lower leagues? Not only does it cut time by a lot, but it also enables you to get further. When there are two roughly equal players matching, they can make the worlds difference. I kinda speak from experience here. ;) And believe me, battling WILL come. Sooner or later, and I'm wagering on that "sooner".
fish_mummy
I have never really played 2-player battledome outside of letting folks beat up my jetsam for the Jetsam-wanna fight avatar... I would like a tear...but that would take a lot more funds than I have...I think it goes for about double what my set is currently worth I would keep it unless you have something specific which you want to make room for in your set... SuperAttackPea
you know, I remember someone from idb saying unless you NEED to use it at least once a day, you do not need thyoras tear. Why? Because thyoras tear in the bank gives you 10k+ interest each day, that's more than one thick smoke bomb each day. So no, I don't think thyoras tear is worth it unless you do a lot of 2p battling every day
