Piticent
Why does every forum in america (including here and neo) use BBcode and not HTML??
Xepha
I don't think it has anything to do with America... Here is what I found on the topic.
behati
It can be enabled, people choose not to do it mainly because enabling HTML can allow people to run really risky scripts. Which means allowing HTML will also allow the sophisticated malicious user to access the database in ways you don't want. If "only every forum in America" doesn't allow it, then our forums are probably safer and more secure than X country. I mean if you want your passwords stolen and information gone with the knowledge that that information can be linked to your neopets account and god knows what else you use, then be my guest to frequent those sites instead of "American" sites. There are ways around it such as disabling the <script> tag and what not, but why would you even NEED HTML enabled on a board like this? Piticent
OK, i didnt mean just in america, its just a saying ;) I really don't need HTML on forums, but It's a little slower since i dont know any BBcode... ETA: I read the article :) It now makes sense :D
Guest iYoshinho
BBCode (Bulletin Board code) is code that is used across all forum software. IPB, MyBB, phpbb, smf and more By using HTML, things would be more risky. People can easily put in CG scripts on the forum or meta refresh tags in signatures to redirect people to another site of their choosing and more;. BBcode was made to ensure none of that happens.
