musicsquared
I just love holding a book/magazine. Besides, looking at a bright screen gives me headaches after a while. Some of them can be dimmed though. /: But another thing--I don't buy books and with any type of e-reader you have to buy the books you actually read. Lots of people purchase books but that's definitely not for me, I love to read and that would be way too much money after a while If there were an e-library I would definitely consider getting an e-reader. xD
DSilver
Depends on what I'm reading I guess. I like reading stories online but for studies wise, I prefer reading my text through the traditional method. Though if there's an online version of the text I require in electronic version, it would be awesome since I never have to bring textbooks to school anymore LOL
redtopaz
Ah this topic makes me so sad. I love books. REAL books. But they're gonna pass away. As did CDs, as will DVDs. Digital age. etc. Kindles are cool, just b/c I read 7-10 books a week but it's nothing like that wonderful feeling of walking in a library. Sniffing the spine on a book. Reading Ethan Frome that was published in 1940 and knowing many people cried over it with you. While some poeple will keep with the real books, eventually most will not. and that will be a travesty. 2 second hand book shops in my area have already closed, I loved! them, so much, but they're not amazon.com you know? And now, I shall p/u my actual book, and be encompassed by Brandon Sanderson's world. Muwhahahahahaha.
Spirited Away
Both of them are bad.(I do read books)Reason number 1 Books are made of paper paper is made of trees. Tree makes oxygen we breath oxygen ti live.Reason number 2 online reading can effect your eyesight. I PICK ONLINE BECAUSE IT REQUIRES LESS SPACE AND A DIM LIGHT(NOOK)SO IT WON'T HURT YOUR EYES. A BAD REASON TO BUY BOOK IS THAT WHEN THEY A RUINED OR SOILED WITH LIQUID YOU JUST WASTED TREES.
Emily
Like a fe others have said, I really like the smell of books, especially used ones. Since I was 6, I read every night before bed. It helps calm my mind down enough to sleep. Screens just don't have the same effect. I actually find it much harder to fall asleep after reading something on a screen, probably because of the eye strain like others have mentioned. The only reason I would ever consider an e-reader or something would be because I have no more physical space for books. That is one of it's only advantages to me. There are forests made specifically for the purpose of making paper. I don't think you have to worry about wasting trees. Just remember to recycle and all that :)
snowwhite
I will never give up the feel of a paper book in my hands. I have a library at my home and there's nothing as calming as sitting in there with all those stories around me. I've worked in a used book store, and got laughed out of 4th grade for sniffing my new schoolbooks. :) Just finished GRRM's new book, all 900+ pages, and though I like the e-readers, I just can't bring myself to get one!
