If professional analysis tickles your fancy, you want our predictions pages (global/daily). ...can’t believe I’m still stuck in the news room. And so who’s going to be out there on the field? [off camera] Murphy, we’re borrowing him for a while. You do realize you’re live, right? Murphy?! That sack of nuts and bolts? He can’t report! Talk about starting a riot - he’s going to do a lot worse than that... I’m live? I’m live! Where is my results page... Ah! Here we go. Typical, typical, Lost Desert sweeps Haunted Woods... wait what? Am I reading this right? [off camera] Yeah, I was there, it was pretty close. Just get on with your report already, will you? Yeah, yeah, I’m getting to it! Well folks, you heard it from the smart-aleck behind the camera - the Mummies managed to 'wrap up' the day with a sweep against the Zombies. Not all undead are created equal, that’s what I always say! The Zombies were left to shamble off to tomorrow’s match against Tyrannia as the Mummies indulge in a few victory slushies. The Lost Desert is less than one point away from the third tier, a far cry from last year’s first place win, however tomorrow’s match against Brightvale could change that because Brightvale is placed at the bottom of the third tier - the team the Lost Desert needs to bump out. Meanwhile, the Haunted Woods is still in great shape to hang onto a spot in tier two, and Haunted Woods forward Zo Junior is probably well on his way to an MVP nomination after effectively managing to hold the score even for the first three quarters of the match, single-handedly keeping up with the Lost Desert's incredible goal rate. "Am I happy that we lost? Well no, not really," the Korbat admitted after the match, "but honestly I don't think you'll have much luck finding a Yooyuball player who's happy about losing. What I am happy about however is the game we played. That was the most fun I've had in a Yooyuball match since... well, the most fun EVER! It was phenomenal, we all played near the top of our game (a few hiccups aside), the Lost Desert played brilliantly, and I'm really looking forward to meeting up Vonde and talking about that awesome cross-field goal he scored two minutes in. Assuming he's managed to duck all those fans bugging him for autographs that is..." On to a slightly less unexpected match, Maraqua drenched... Oh, are we not allowed to use that word?... gently doused the magma flowing from Moltara in a near sweep, with Moltara barely able to bring Slushie Slinger to a draw. Maraqua is less than a point away from overtaking the Minions, who may become Maraqua’s newest rival if they aren’t careful! Maraqua is also less than two points away from top tier. Shenkuu is struggling with the Lost Desert to make it into the third tier, and did well against Altador - taking everything but Slushie Slinger. The Ninjas will need every point they can get to pull ahead of the Lost Desert and Brightvale. Two top contenders for the cup Virtupets and Krawk Island went head to head, and Virtupets squeaked out on top with a win in Yooyuball and Make Some Noise, while Krawk Island dominated in Shootout Showdown and Slushie Slinger. Virtupets is now tied for first with Kreludor, with Krawk Island holding a steady third place. Roo Island went up against the Knights, and the Roos came out victorious, with a win in Yooyuball and Make Some Noise, giving Slushie Slinger to the higher ranked team and closing Shootout Showdown in a draw. Meridell is currently mere tenths of a point away from third place, so a trophy is not out of reach. The Roos are still firmly in tenth place, though it looks like pulling ahead to the second tier may be out of their grasp this late in the game. Onto the match between Brightvale and Mystery Island. Brightvale was able to score a win in Yooyuball and Slushie Slinger, though the win did not come easily. The “juggernaut”... what does that even mean? I’m not going to read that sentence, it sounds stupid. Back to the match, the Islanders managed to take Shootout Showdown and Make Some Noise, costing Brightvale valuable points that could have provided a better buffer against the Lost Desert. Darigan Citadel dominated in the game against Faerieland today, though the Faeries’ customer service and slinging skills were vastly better than the Minions’, scoring them a Slushie Slinger win. However, it wasn’t enough to pull them above their current sixteenth place. Darigan Citadel on the other hand is hovering just out of the top tier, breathing down the Knights’ necks. Kiko Lake did well against the much better team Terror Mountain, gaining a Slushie Slinger win and a draw in Make Some Noise. Terror Mountain took the match with a Yooyuball win as well as dominating in Shootout Showdown. The Chillers remain in eighth place, hoping to move up into the higher levels of the second tier. And to do our field report today, is none other than our favorite robotic reporter, Murphy! “Kreludor must be letting all the extra oxygen go to their heads - what were they thinking giving up so many points to Tyrannia! Dinosaurs have no arms! They can’t hold a Yooyu, much less throw one! Then again, the extra gravity gives them a disadvantage when it comes to Slushie Slinger - I bet they dropped more than they served! And what would stop them from making noise! How did the Dinos get that? Did they just roar and they were given the game to get them to shut up?! And another thing...” [image abruptly switches to the newsroom] Do you still think that was a good idea? [off camera] Well at least there was no riot... Hey, that riot was completely justified! Anyway, stay tuned for tomorrow’s matches, as Maraqua and Terror Mountain go head to head, and Meridell and Darigan Citadel battle it out for fourth place. The Haunted Woods are going up against Tyrannia, hopefully with renewed energy! Krawk Island and Kreludor could easily switch places if the Pirates push for a sweep. For the third tier, we have Lost Desert trying to push out Brightvale, and Shenkuu trying to push out Kiko Lake - which they could do with a sweep. Very exciting as the second round of the Altador Cup starts to come to a close - less than a week to go before the beginning of finals. This is Lydia, for The Daily Neopets, signing off. jonathanjoseph99
Letting Murphy report was a bad idea. I'm sure some Tyrannians are mad. Anyway, good report. Well, except for Murphy.
-Ryan
THANK GOD. Roos and VP both did a great job against MD and KI and DC/MQ have a great shot at first tier. NICE JOB LOST DESERT. I wouldn't say its the biggest upset of the AC considering MT beat KI, but its still amazing.
Person335
Congrats to Lost Desert on your good great awesome outstanding amazing victory! (yes, all those words were necessary. If you know what video game that came from, kudos to you) Well deserved win, and I can only hope that it continues.
AgJu
Terror Mountain finally got another YYB win and against Kiko Lake, their kryptonite! Kiko Lake broke our SOSD streak last year and nearly swept us in our round one match this year, but we triumphed in round 2! Let's spring into action TM and gain a further foothold in Tier 2 against Maraqua! YYB may be tough, but we're sure to take a sidegame or two. And congrats Lost Desert! Were it last year I wouldn't be surprised that Lost Desert could sweep a team like Haunted Woods, but this year it definitely is a surprise. It feels good to headline with a sweep again, especially against a team that sweeped us hard in the first round. Though I feel especially bad because I didn't send a single score yesterday Maybe if I don't send anything today for Brightvale we'll get that spot we've been dancing around for the past week...I'm kidding! I'll probably try to rank up today. Keep fighting hard everyone!
AgJu
well y'all are only .33 points behind Brightvale so if you take YYB or all the sidegames you might squeak by. Of course, everyone hopes for a sweep.
Lydia Trebond
well y'all are only .33 points behind Brightvale so if you take YYB or all the sidegames you might squeak by. Of course, everyone hopes for a sweep. They'd have to take YYB and one of the side games at least because only taking one leaves Brightvale with another point... still leaving the Lost Desert behind by .33... I have given this way too much thought...
-Ryan
I want Lost Desert to get another clean sweep. I'm gonna be honest, I hate Brightvale. They swept us on the first day last year, and took away a YYB win we needed this year. Plus I love Lost Desert. ^^
