Hello again ACers! It's been yet another hectic day for reporters, supporters and players alike at the Altador Cup, as the teams on the field (and fans in the stands) defied the harsh onset of fatigue to give us an incredible day of some of the most astounding matches to date. Well, without further ado, let's go over to our field reporter Lydia for more.

“Thanks AA, I’m standing right outside of the Colosseum in Altador now, because if I were standing inside you guys wouldn’t be able to hear anything. Moltara beat Krawk Island, I repeat, Moltara beat Krawk Island in the most amazing show of Yooyuball yet! Despite the Pirates being placed first and Moltara being placed dead last, they pulled through with a runaway match against Krawk Island.

“We decided to put all our effort into today's game - but it could never have been a success without our fans,” said Tulah Kisner of Moltara, in an interview right after the match. “Krawk Island had a very easy time with the side games because we had no strength left to hold slushies, or throw extra Yooyus. If we had divided our attention like that we would have gotten swept, no problem - just like last time.” She laughed and added, “Now if the Make Some Noise competition had been over the amount of noise made during the Yooyuball match, our fans would have won that one as easily as we won Yooyuball, but we were too hoarse to make any more noise!”

I hear she’s taking a much needed rest at the moment, ready for tomorrow’s game against Meridell.

Well that was a much needed win for Moltara - both for points and morale, as Krawk Island only got a single point!

Another match that is just wrapping up is Haunted Woods versus Roo Island, and that will have been a sweep for the Haunted Woods...

[off camera] You! You’re for Roo Island! How did you manage to [beeeep] beat us at Yooyuball?

We, uh what?

[off camera] Yeah! You nearly swept us! We barely got ahead in [beeeeep] Slushie Slinger!

I stand corrected folks! A Haunted Woods fan has informed me that the Rooligans beat Haunted Woods in everything but Slushie Slinger... which probably means I won’t get a slushie from my fellow fans.

[off camera] Rooligans? More like Hooligans!

Excuse me. [Lydia walks off camera, sounds of a fist fight are heard, as well as increased shouting. Lydia walks back on camera, disheveled.]

It seems that a bush got lit on fire behind my cameraman. I think it’s time to call it a wrap, considering this is turning out to be a full-scale riot.

[off camera, the cameraman] And you wonder why the bodyguard quit...

Our thoughts go out to Edgar’s family. Back to you, AA.

[More fights have broken out behind Lydia and screaming is heard.]

You won’t get away with calling me a hooligan - we’re the Rooligans! [dashes off, knocking over camera] [image dissolves into snow]"

Thanks Lydia, and uh, try not to get too carried away with all the rioting. Moving along, section C of the Colosseum saw yet another outstanding match yesterday, as the Brightvale Wizards unleashed their highly sophisticated field strategy in one of its toughest tests yet, battering their way through the hardened defence of Team Maraqua. The Wizards met with mixed success in that venture - although they did manage to score a number of goals, they also found themselves repeatedly exposed to Maraqua's hybrid offensive strategy (a classic by now, but it's worth noting that the strategy was first developed within that very team). However controversial Brightvale's new plays may be, there's no doubt that the results were quite impressive, with the two teams ending the Yooyuball match dead level. For once in the Cup, the pace at the slushie stands was a little less furious than usual, with a recent price hike diminishing demand (but not by much). The slight setback was enough to push both teams into overstocking, leaving Slushie Slinger tied for the day. Unfortunately for Team Brightvale, the Maraquans were able to keep up with a slight edge in Shootout Showdown, and with morale running high the Mermaids were able to seal the deal by taking Make Some Noise.

The Shenkuu Ninjas were another team coming out strong in Yooyuball today, as they added another victory to their steadily strengthening tally with a win over the Lost Desert Mummies. The Yooyuball loss was hardly a deterrent to the Lost Desert's fans however, as they held an even score with the Ninjas in Shootout Showdown, and fought their way to victory in Slushie Slinger and Make Some Noise.

Team Kreludor, meanwhile, finally settled their score with top-tier rivals Darigan Citadel, taking the overall lead with an ever-so-close win in Yooyuball. The action was hardly any less intense elsewhere on the field, and the Citadel still managed to pull off some heavy counterattacks in the side games, holding even with Kreludor's slushie stands and taking victories in Make Some Noise and Shootout Showdown, narrowing Kreludor's win considerably. Both teams have succeeded in keeping themselves well within reach of tier one, with the Citadel in fifth and Kreludor tied for third.

"Layton and I have been team captains for... longer than I can remember now," reminisced Kreludor's captain, Derlyn Fonnet. "We've each spent at least five years in the Altador Cup alone, and we have a tremendous amount of respect for each other. Playing against Layton's squad is always a fantastic experience, and I don't doubt their ability to make tier one. If they do, I look forward to meeting them for a spot on the podium."

The side game-Yooyuball split seems to be a common pattern in yesterday's matches, as Teams Tyrannia and Terror Mountain achieved much the same result after their meeting. Both teams are side gaming powerhouses and also fairly strong in Yooyuball, but it seems that the Terror Mountain Chillers were going all out on the sides yesterday, bringing home a full match point with their signature triple-side game avalanche. On the Yooyuball field however, the Tyrannian Fossils' steamed forward with what's become known as one of the most aggressive Yooyuball strategies in the Cup, eventually managing to take the game and the overall win, but just barely.

Team Faerieland had a very tough day playing against Meridell's Knights, with the Knights' solid Slushie Slinger play countering the Faeries' one major advantage in the tournament. The Faeries hung on nevertheless, giving the Knights a run for their money in both Slushie Slinger and the main sport, but Meridell was still able to come out ahead on all counts, settling into second place in the standings.

"I've gotta say, I think those Faeries are worth a lot more than the standings say they are," remarked a Team Meridell fan during the match. "They fight just like true knights. Valiant, honourable, and chivalrous, everything that we aspire to be. To say that we've managed to come out ahead of them is a statement I can make with pride, and I look forward to the day when we'll meet up in tier one. Best of luck to them."

Valiance certainly wasn't missing from the field play of Teams Altador and Kiko Lake - both underdogs managed to hold their own in the face of a challenging match on the Yooyuball field, even pulling ahead of their opponents at a few points in the day, despite coming away with losses in the end. In the case of Team Altador, it was a challenging match on all other fronts as well, as Team Virtupets hammered them in the side games with wins in Make Some Noise and Shootout Showdown. In spite of this, the Altadorians were able to exercise some of their slushie-slinging prowess, bringing the remaining side game to a draw. The Kiko Lakers had a slightly easier time in the side games against Mystery Island, conceding Slushie Slinger but drawing even in Make Some Noise and winning Shootout Showdown.

Well, that's it for day twenty-three, but stay tuned for the next day's matches, as Team Haunted Woods, quite possibly running the risk of falling out of reach of the first tier, crosses guards with first-ranked Team Virtupets. As always however, there's never a relaxing day at the Altador Cup, and there are sure to be plenty more surprises to come, anticipated match or not.

This is AA, reporting from Altador, signing off.

While it may be a slight victory, it's an overall victory nevertheless (Yooyuball has the final say in any match), and I think Moltara has earned that verb at the very least. ;)

Holy snap...

This... is amazing!

This is for sure a proud moment for my team!

I was beginning to lose confidence, us in last place facing first place. But look what it turned out to be!

Honestly, never thought this would happen. Kind of expecting all our YYB wins to be against Altador.

But with these results, I now know that anything's possible.

It's official: we are so escaping the fifth tier.

Ya better watch out top-tier teams, 'cause Mt. Moltara's erupting! evil.gif

P.S. Censored cursing in a report...?

Daaaaang, Moltora.

The only way a bigger upset will happen this AC is if Altador gets their first YYB win and first SHSH win against Kreludor.

Anyway, theres no shame in losing to KD. 'Nuff said.

Wow. I never thought I'd see the day when MT beat another team besides AL, possibly FL.

Great job, MT! It was well deserved and *NOT* a glitch like most thought at first. ._.

Loss in YYB to KD, near side sweep for DC. I guess it's sorta bittersweet for both of us. :laughingsmiley:

But BV seems to be alternating strengths. It's like...they beat VP, almost lose to FL, and then draw MQ.

I wonder what surprise they have in store for us this time. Hopefully not another sweep. *cough*ACV*cough*

Congrats Moltara! That has to be one of the biggest upsets in tournament history!

My team did very well also....We went up against Team Tyrannia, probably THE sidegaming powerhouse in the league, and we took all the sidegames! We lost YYB, but we earned enough points to move back up to 7th. Roo Island seems to be closing the gap between itself and the Top 9 slowly but surely so could they achieve a late-tournament comeback?

And sorry Faerieland, but I'll be playing in the hope of a sweep for Terror Mountain! Go Chillers!!
