Lydia here, reporting live from Altador as the matches wrap up for the day and the scores are posted. It’s been a great day here in the stadium, a lot of exciting matches, and more to come!

As predicted, Roo Island did poorly against Maraqua, having a near shut out match in Yooyuball - a last second score from Lilo Blumario saved them that embarrassment. The Roos concentrated on the side games, and it showed, tying up Shootout Showdown and Slushie Slinger, though Maraqua was able to pull ahead in Make Some Noise.

Kiko Lake followed through from yesterday’s match - taking all the side games from Darigan Citadel and barely letting go of Yooyuball in a last second missed catch by their goal keeper that would have kept the game tied at 2-2 had he made it.

With Virtupets placed fourth, the match against Moltara was a run away - many of Moltara’s fans did not come to the match, which demoralized the team.

“It really helps to have the fans there cheering us on,” said team captain Aldric Beign. “When Faerieland’s players were complaining about the fans just giving up, I though they were exaggerating, but even with a large fan base, everyone is missed.”

Though our sophisticated calculations put Moltara at a draw in Slushie Slinger, they just could not follow through and Virtupets were able to pull ahead even in their weak game. Their smaller fanbase is tighter knit and more organized and has allowed them to advance significantly since their poor showing in AC I and II.

Though Brightvale is much better at Slushie Slinger than the ghosts in the Haunted Woods, they were swept by the ghosts. Though the Haunted Woods have been doing steadily worse since they took the gold in AC I, they seem to be pulling back up out of the double digit standings - at least for now.

Altador pulled through in Slushie Slinger, just like many of the underdogs have this year. Though Mystery Island is having a bad year, they managed to pull a win in Yooyuball and leaving Altador as the only team to have lost every game of Yooyuball so far. Altador was able to tie up Make Some Noise, but is still placed second to last.

Another runaway series of matches with Krawk Island versus Shenkuu. Shenkuu showed a lot of promise in AC II, placing third in their first year, but in AC V, rather than taking gold, they slipped to 11th, and haven’t recovered. The ninjas had been powering through with their exceptional skill in Yooyuball, but it hasn’t held up in the long term. On the other hand, Krawk Island has shaken its nasty bout of “winner’s curse” and is back near the top.

Terror Mountain takes Slushie Slinger from the Dinosaurs but left everything else in a draw. Tyrannia remains a serious cup contender, but this has left the Chillers in seventh, and maybe out of reach of the gold. They still have a chance of placing in the top tier, but they’ll have to work harder than they have been to pull out of this new low.

Meridell certainly held its own today against Kreludor, tying up Yooyuball against the current leaders. Kreludor is following the pattern of having placed second in the year before and has become a prominent powerhouse this year. They could easily take the cup if they continue with this momentum, especially since they have yet to lose a game of Yooyuball, and only tied four times.

The former champs may have some life left in them yet, taking Yooyuball and Shootout Showdown. Faerieland walked away with Slushie Slinger and Make Some Noise, which is a weak game for both teams. Perhaps this talk of magic is just talk. Krawk Island did poorly the year after they won, though not this poorly.

That’s it for the matches, stay tuned tomorrow when Terror Mountain takes on the Moon. This game may decide if Terror Mountain will place or not!

Other games to look out for include Mystery Island and Shenkuu battling it out for the middle tier, and Kiko Lake and Moltara - will the fire boil off the lake or will the lake quench the fire? Meridell and Roo Island will also be fighting for a spot in one of the middle tiers.

One match not to miss is Krawk Island against Tyrannia. This will be the third time the Dinos go up against former champs and they’ve yet to win a Yooyuball game against former champions. This may allow Krawk Island to pull back up into the top tier!

This is Lydia, for The Daily Neopets, signing off.

OK seriously, what do you have against HW? Did they ever do anything personal to you? Why do you always have to go and say something mean about them? Grow up and stop being so biased. That is all.

The funny part about this article is that Haunted Woods is known as the Ghosts, though we don't have a Ghost on our team anymore XD.

If you could point out the mean remark that's gotten you so worked up, that might be a little more helpful. :)

I was shocked by the results when I saw DC winning only yooyuball. But anyways, I was concentrating only on YYB!

:sick01: LD team is pouring sand in our mouth during the match! We are going to sweep the LD's sand among themselves! GO DC!

This sweeping thing is starting to get irritating.angry.gif

Worst part is, I'll be out of town and will be nowhere near a computer until Sunday.

What to do, what to do...worried.gif

You mean when they were talking about how HW pretty much owned BV or when they said they were steadily getting better for now? -_-'

Don't mean to be blunt, but do me a favor and shaddup.

If you could point out the mean remark that's gotten you so worked up, that might be a little more helpful. :)

Lets start with the game against DC. "Haunted Woods lost valuable points early in the tournament to small teams such as Shenkuu, Faerieland and Kiko Lake, and is trying to play catch up, rather unsuccessfully, despite the strong start." The part that really bothers me there is the fact that she said rather unsuccessfully. We are actually bringing teams down in rank every time we play them and closing the gap to tier 2 rather quickly. I say that is something to be proud of.

Now for yesterdays game. "Though the Haunted Woods have been doing steadily worse since they took the gold in AC I, they seem to be pulling back up out of the double digit standings - at least for now." Really? "at least for now"? Why can't you just say congrats on your near sweep and keep up the good work! If Haunted Woods stays on track they are gonna climb up the ranks in no time! That would be something nice to say.

Now lets look at RI's match today. The team this reporter is on. Why not make a comment about how RI isn't doing so well this season. It looks like they aren't going to make it to tier 2 if they keep this up. Nothing to hurt the moral of RI. They did manage to tie so that's a good thing. Positive moral boost against a hard team.

Now lets look at RI's match yesterday. "Roo Island, currently placed 10th, held its own against Kreludor who is currently placed 1st, drawing in both Shootout Showdown and Yooyuball. Kreludor did win in both Slushie Slinger and Make Some Noise, but the draw in Yooyuball came as a shock for most - the whole field fell silent when the referee blew the whistle at a tie of 5-5. Even the yooyu uncurled to look at the score and gasped." HW nearly swept a one of the best YYB teams at the time. DC was at rank 3, but HW didn't get praise for nearly sweeping them. RI didn't even get a win, only 2 draws and 2 loses. Why not say RI is doing rather unsuccessful this year? Considering RI came in 4th place last year, being in rank 10 is really bad.

This reporter is clearly biased only saying positive things about her team and is biased against Haunted Woods never saying positive things.

You mean when they were talking about how HW pretty much owned BV or when they said they were steadily getting better for now? -_-'

Don't mean to be blunt, but do me a favor and shaddup.

You can't say something positive and then end it with something negative when you sweep a team. If the negative comment was taken out I wouldn't have gotten so upset.

I dare you to try! If it weren't for the fact I have a dentist appointment today (which should have been tomorrow, darn you dentist) I'd be playing all day. The Kikos have inspired us!

I have to say that I agree... That almost sweep that HW got against DC should've been addressed in a more exciting tone because it was definitely a huge shocker. And now KL side swept DC? I don't really like KL, but I would have gone crazy over that match if I was the TDN reporter lol.

I'm so used to AA's enthusiastic writing that these articles kind of bore me... sorry!

Actually as HW is still placed well below the top tier, and so I would say their game of catch up has been unsuccessful because they showed promise in the beginning on the level of Tyrannia and TM.

But that's not how they've been doing. They have a sweep and then they lose valuable points in matches. I've been looking at the results from past games and can spot where easy points could have been gained and weren't.

You're right, I *like* RI, otherwise I wouldn't be on their team. So yes, I'm going to be biased. However, looking at it as objectively as possible, RI did WELL against the top tier teams. The reason I have RI things in my signature is so you *know* that I'm with them and biased towards them.

I actually have nothing against HW. I think you just don't like the facts and so view it as bias. You lost points to Faerieland after coming out strong. Kiko Lake, Roo Island, Meridell, Shenkuu - with the way you started, they should have been complete sweeps.

I thought I'd get flack for my Moltara comment. Dodged a bullet there!

Okay, I'm not the guy from HW, but I think the problem here is the fact that these are daily news and even though they had some tough days in the past, HW deserves recognition for that almost sweep against DC. Praising a DLLD sounds ridiculous to me whether it was against KD or not... I /could/ see you praising KD though, because they did win that match, after all...

It all just seems really odd that you're always considering the whole cup when they are daily updates. Sure you could say that HW had a tough start, but maybe they'll do better now with that near perfect win...

It's artistic representation of the results. What is said by TDN on the AC has should have no merit compared to anyone's achievements in the cup - it's not an analysis, it's fiction. Don't get offended by anything, it's not like it discredits people's performances, it's just stating opinionated bias or non bias.

In which some of the facts aren't entirely in the right, but we're all human here. TM is tied for 6th, not 'fallen to 7th'.

Plus, doesn't predictions against your team motivate you even more to play? I know it does for me.

Sorry about that, I remember seeing that and thinking they were tied for 6th and then when I wrote it I checked their standing without looking at the points. I'm an idiot sometimes.

And why should it be "odd" that I'm incorporating the results from the whole cup? Just because it's a daily report it doesn't mean that the other games don't come into play. There is no reason I can't comment on the entire season while commenting on one day's results.

Oh my goodness...Maraqua in second place? Is it even possible the cup could be ours!? I can barely believe this, I'm dreaming! Wake me up!!!! *splashes water on her face* No...it is not a dream!

Never has a team I've played for won the Cup! Could this be true! This seems too good to be true, I thought at least another year or so till Maraqua took home the Cup.....

Wait, it is still the first round! Must wait until after the second to see...

It seems weird because usually sportscasters don't talk like that... Have you watched any sports news? Sure they say "last year [insert team] did terrible" or "They had a slow start but maybe their coming back" you never see a sportscaster say that a team is doing something unsuccessful after an almost shut out lol...

It just isn't right to say "They did a great job today, but it was probably a fluke if you compare the other days" after a major upset. you say "wow those HW players really played their hardest today, let's see if they can keep up the pace and climb the tiers!"

I don't know how I can explain it anymore than that x)

I can't believe we actually didn't let Tyrannia win ONE game. I thought they would nearly sweep us! And yea, we're getting lower on the standings, but we'll make a comeback! Hopefully Kreludor won't hurt us to bad....

GO TERROR MOUNTAIN!

With regards to the feedback on our reports, thanks for taking the time to express your concerns. Points have been made on both sides of a couple of issues, and we do take feedback into account when writing reports.

That said, the simple fact remains that different people will write different reports from different perspectives, and opinions expressed in these reports will, naturally, differ. These opinions will rarely match the views of readers (myself included), and in fact will often conflict significantly with those views. Heck, I sometimes get irritated when reading my own reports. Perfectly unbiased news reports are impossible to write, and it's often hard to be entertaining while attempting to maintain neutrality. It's perfectly all right to disagree with what we (or anybody else) writes, but please keep in mind that we're all human, and we all have opinions that seep into everything we say and do.

If you really do want to know how every team in the tournament did without any bias, this page is your one-stop solution. ;)

Okay, seriously, if you are offended by any bias in the report, then it's pretty much your own fault. We have a LARGE disclaimer at the top pointing out that it's a reporter who is subject to bias. In any case, I'll post it again for anyone who is trolling so hard over something completely minor.

Obligatory disclaimer: This news report was written to inform you all of the latest Altador Cup results in as entertaining a manner as possible. We appreciate all constructive criticism, but any trolling is NOT going to affect us at all. These reports are based on facts so if we say that a team isn't doing to well, they aren't doing too well. We can't just praise a team every time they do well. Praising HW for their near-sweep on Darigan would be great, but why would we give you a false sense of security? The fact is that you guys COULD be doing better and any negative criticism is to bring out the best in every player by encouraging them to prove people wrong.
