I'm using the neopet page guides of ladygisma and wiggles_33tc, I'd recommend these for any one. As for the game, how long did it take you? And which do you prefer, Neoquest 1 or 2? I made the mistake of not using the skills points as instructed by wiggles guide and so did not get to defeat the end boss. It took me around 4-5 months, but that was because I'd play heavily for a couple days, then forget about it for a few weeks or more. Personally, I used In-Depth NeoQuest Guide. It was the easiest guide for me. It includes guides submitted by several people, maps of everything, information on NPCs, monsters and bosses. Either NQ usually takes me about a month, but I get so obsessed with them each that I don't do anything else practically. I've done both NQI and II. Still need to complete NQI on Insane...
