Guest
Olá, everyone! ^^ So, I decided to start a debate which theme is a little unusual: communicating with spirits. Me and other four friends went to one of their houses and, after months of planning, we created a (shameful) ouija-board. It was made with 4 paper sheets and little cardboard letters that we stick there. We also drew numbers from 0-9 and the words "Sim", "Não", "Olá" and "Adeus". (Yes, no, hello and goodbye, respectively). We lit 4 candles around it and sat around the board. After holding hands and praying, we touched the glass with our fingers. 1st attempt - We decided who would talk and that person asked "Is any spirit here?" with no response. He waited about 2 minutes and repeated. We did this about 5x. We were about to give up when it started moving very, very slowly towards "hello". We asked for a manifestation of some sort, so that we would know that it was a spirit - a candle fell upon my hand. I unconsciously took the finger off the glass (It hurt!) and the glass stopped. When we put it in the middle again, we asked several things such as name and age and since the answers were completely random and nonsense, we asked if the spirit could write, he said no. We said "goodbye" and he went towards "goodbye". We stopped, still shocked... And decided to try again with another person talking. 2nd attempt - We put our fingers on the glass and it started moving immediately towards the "X". Someone took their finger off, scared. We put the glass in the middle again, apologize and it started to go towards the "X" again! It then went to "goodbye". It was really quick! A friend of ours said "you know what would be extremely scary? If it pointed 666." We all yelled at him (he had been playing around, even though he was scared, and said things that probably would disturb the spirit). 3rd and final attempt - Convicted that we would communicate with a "good spirit", we did the same, moved by the desire to know something historical. It took a while for the glass to start moving, but it, again, said "hello". I'll post what happened in a dialogue form: We - Is a spirit here? Sp - Hello. We - What's your name? Sp - DTA (we thought it was data (=date) ) We - Is your name Data? Sp - Yes - and started moving towards the numbers (the sequence was 509081) We - Are you male? Sp - Yes. We - How old are you? Sp - 33. We - Are you the same spirit we talked to earlier? Sp - Yes. We - What's your objective with this? Sp - To kill you. (started moving really fast) 666 We - It's time for us to say goodbye. Sp - No. 666. 666 We - In God's name, goodbye! Sp - No. 666. Goodbye. No We - Goodbye! Goodbye! Goodbye! Goodbye! Sp - No. Goodbye. No. 666. Goodbye. No. 666 While some of us prayed, the others kept saying: "In God's name, goodbye!" while the spirit kept pointing "Goodbye. No. Goodbye. No". We all said Goodbye at the same time and as he was on "goodbye" we counted to 3 and removed our fingers, lit the lights and prayed a little more while holding hands. Two of our friends started crying (one of them didn't believe in spirits). We then grabbed the glass and the board, went outside, lit a small fire and threw the glass against a wall (it broke). We prayed once again. We watched as it burned and when we threw water upon it... It was some kind of explosion, I think. It was extinguished. We were panicking! We kept thinking about it, we all even slept in the same place. We talked to one of our friend's mother who is a medium and she said it wouldn't harm us, that it was just a poltergeist, but that it didn't make sense since it was a paper board. Opinions? DON'T YOU EVER EVER EVER DO THIS!
CCarol
We used to play that game at parties, I'm a firm believer that at least one person is always moving the cup. I don't believe in spirits :) My friends used to get into a tizzy over it though. By the way, aposto que és portuguesa - com um nome como Inês - só pode! :D
persephoniekali
I would say whether or not spirits exist, there are so many unknown things that do exist that it may not be wise to mess with things like that. I've done it before when I was younger and some scary things happened.... for years afterward that could not be explained. I think that any spirit that is hanging around waiting to be communicated with most likely isn't good... Good spirits are happy and in heaven or whatever you believe in. You know the saying that he-you-know-what is on earth so... bad spirits may be here. Personally, I think its better to meditate/pray to come in contact with your guiding spirits or god or whatever you believe in. I would say just be vigilant and pray and keep yourself and friends visualized in a white protective light or god's light or (again) whatever you believe in. Basically, who knows what all is out there and exists so be careful what you bring into your life! :D

Uau, é a primeira vez que vejo aqui alguém português. :D I really don't know, it was moving way too fast... and it kept moving while spinning, so our fingers were tangled, I doubt anyone could be able to push it. It *makes sense* to think that, well, if you are invoking a spirit, only the bad ones will come out. I won't ever do it again, that I know. vampire_girl
Okaaaayyy, this sounds really creepy! Recently I have decided to do the same thing with my friends, although I'm scared. I know it can't be real, but there is one part of me which says it could be real. But by my "theory about spirits" I think that spirits stay on Earth because of some unsolved tasks or they are just waiting for their family, friends, etc. The 666 and saying that they will kill you is either just one of their jokes, OR they really mean it because their spirits aren't clean yet. But that's just my theory. :P By the way, random question: Is Ines your real name? Because my name is Ines xD

Have you ever read Allan Kardec? I did until I got bored of reading the same thing over and over again. Well, according to him, spirits live among us and have a "perfection level". The ones with a higher level communicate with God and the ones with a low level are the ones who just like to play around and haven't realized that "perfect is the way to go". It's a very interesting author, I say. I found his theory interesting and plausible. :)

(Just saying, my name writes Ines, without ê) ^.^ Well, it sound pretty interesting, but I haven't read Allan Kardec. I have started to read Michael Newton. He is a hypnotherapist who turns his clients back through time when his client is in hypnotized state or in superconscious state, it's possible to "see" the spiritual world. His book is good for reading if you're afraid of death. At least it says, but book helped me to understand everything much better, although I have read just few pages. My parents have suggested me to read it.
mac_ss
So I thought it might be interesting to through this theory out here for you. 1. There are no such thing as ghost; and spirits do not linger on earth, there are only angels. 2. While many people think that angels are good things, the truth is that there are bad angels out there. "Fallen Angels" these angels are demons. 3. Demons are underlings of Satan. 4. Satan is the Father of Lies, who comes to kill, steal, and destroy! 5. Demons have been around a long time. Longer than humans. 6. Having been around humans for such a long time they can impersonate them quite well. 7. There are things that we as humans can do to invite them into us and around us. I would say from my experience that there are Demons. I have seen, heard, and experienced them. They have been one of the most paralyzingly fearful experences of my life. If you want to read something that is a really good reference on this theory I would recomend "This Present Darkness" by Frank Peretti
Rikki
I personally believe in spirits or ghosts or whatever you want to call them, since a lot of weird occurrences has happened in my life that could only be explained with spirits. Honestly I don't think most ghosts can harm people or even want to. In my experience they're just really noisy/annoying/like to mess with you, but certainly not vicious. I think if that spirit really did plan on killing you he'd have done so by now so I don't think you have anything to worry about. c:
Olivia_D
I don't totally buy it. I'm pretty confident that there is no such things as ghosts, but I can be swayed if I experienced something that could change my mind. I really thing it is funny to watch someone on tv who is totally into it running around freaking out over something nobody can see and saying "ooh, the air feels warm over here. maybe I am standing right where the spirit is!" It makes me laugh! I'd probably freak out too if it happened to me though... :laughingsmiley:
Guest
I didn't thought it would kill us, it just creeped me out! :c Watching a cup move without having someone pushing it it's... awkward. Especially if it says those things! Hmm.. Never heard of those authors, but I may read them! :D
Airotia
I think there is stuff out there that we can't possibly know about, but I don't like Ouija boards... Whether or not you're right on the spiritual debate, Ouija boards are always considered interacting in a really negative way, and just in case, it's really better not to mess with anything like that, whether it's a party trick or not. I am so on the fence about spiritual stuff, but I am cautious, so. This topic has been edited by a member of staff (Spritzie) because of a violation of the forum rules.
