Simple question. Complicated answer.

So say you have this pet that you've zapped into something pretty rare and you want to get rid of it but you also want to make some money out of it.

Is that legal?

(neopoints. Not real money)

It is against the rules to trade a pet for neopoints or items. Pets may only be traded for other pets.

If the zap is really rare, you might be able to trade for something great though :) Especially if the pet is nicely trained.

Yeah, it's... slightly a shame you cannot profit off a valuable pet, but that also seems a bit wrong to do... The game revolves around taking care of a pet. Selling them cause they became valuable seems wrong morally. Like Getting a dog, loving it, then someone says they will give you a million dollars for your dog. Trading is borderline cruel, but I see it more as at least giving it a lovely home or something. :X

I know they aren't real pets, but just explaining a possible reasoning why it won't be allowed in the future either.

While you are not allowed to actually 'sell' it or make a profit out of it, you can potentially SAVE some neopoints instead. For example, if you trade it for one of your dreamies or close to that, then you can save the neopoints that you would have spent on buying the morphing potion/paint brush had you not traded the good lab rat you got.

You can sell dogs....and all sorts of animals. That's what breeders make their lives out of lol

And yeah. I don't think my robot pteri is enough to get anything major. I just kinda wanted to get rid of it....oh well. I guess I'll just stick with what I have

Except we aren't breeding neopets, plus my example was you actually taking care of the pet and loving it THEN selling it. There's a difference between that and a dog breeder.
