Sakeru_Kyori
Alrighty so I was browsing the net about Neopets Premium info and I came across this site http://www.complaintsboard.com/complaints/neopets-c76118.html#c805380 It has worried me because I was thinking of getting an account but now I am not sure what to do. I don't want this to happen to me. And what the heck is going on with the parts about Neopets not even having humans helping you and only have stupid automatic e-mails replied to the complaint e-mails sent by the users who's accounts have been wrongfully frozen? This has angered me and I'd like to know what really happenes. Because I've lost a Neopets account already too for "suspicious activity" for no freaking reason and not one e-mail of mine hjas been answered. Are neopets starting to be scammers now or what? And who the heck even send out the stupid frozen messages or whatever? They need to pay the freak attention and have PROOF of their stupid alligations of people before they freeze accounts. Also they should have freaking explanations of why the heck the accounts are frozen. not some stupid crap like what I got. And I think I beleive these complaints, why would neopets care if they are making money off from us? Don't hate either. I'm just trying to get to the bottom of this. Rae
Unfortunately ever since Neopets was bought by Viacom (same company that owns MTV and Nickolodean, Disney, etc.) Neopets just hasn't been the same. Including the increased amount of apathy towards us users. It's disgusting, and that is part of the reason why I got rid of Premium. Not to mention Premium isn't even all that worth it in the first place (IMO). I've only gotten two accounts frozen - one was because someone stole my account and started doing things that were against the rules and got my account frozen before I could get it back. The other account was frozen because I was using sides to get more neopoints (that's what happens when you don't read the new rules LOL). I've had so many friends that were frozen "for their own benefit" and it's scared me. I won't buy NC or pay for Premium JUST IN CASE something similar happens to me. I have no solution, I don't think anyone will. At the end it's a game, and one that with so many scammers and CGers and even the potential of TNT screwing us over - not one that I am willing to pay for. Good luck though! Viridian
^Viacom doesn't own Disney, fyi. However the complaint you're looking at is old. This was before the Ticket System. I've had several personal replies from the ticket system already :)
Wembly
I don't want to seem like I am attacking people but accounts get frozen for very legitimate reasons. Either someone has more than likely gotten your password and done something illegal or you have unknowingly done something illegal. Contrary to popular belief, they do not just randomly freeze people. The rules of the site are very clear, most people just don't seem to read them. They are also more than willing to accommodate you if you have a problem and can articulate that problem in a calm fashion. Personally I think that TNT goes way above and beyond what should rightly be expected of them. There are plenty of sites out there that will only email you once the link to start a new password if you lost yours and once you are banned, it's final but TNT does a lot getter than that to help you out. It also helps if you are emailing the right people which the ticket system is wonderful in fixing. So yay ticket system!
misohappy
I have to agree with Wembly! My account was frozen before, due to my Cybunny having a bad word in his name. It wasn't my fault, as on Cybunny Day I was in a mad scramble to create one before they were all taken, so I clicked the randomize name option and went with the first one they gave me. Years later, they froze me for it. I e-mailed them and explained it to them and got my account back the next day. I was so happy! On the down side, my sister had her old account hacked into and frozen, because the person who hacked her account had gone around breaking a lot of rules. I remember her crying for hours about it; it was her first ever account and she'd put so much effort into it. I e-mailed TNT for her, only to be told I couldn't e-mail them for her; she'd have to do it herself. So I sat down with her and helped her write the e-mail, telling them what happened and including anything and everything she could think of about her account, to prove it was really hers. We finally got an e-mail back later, saying her account couldn't be returned and that was that. Needless to say, she was devastated, but has since moved on and rebuilt her new account. If I can recall correctly, her old account that was frozen, had Premium on it while it was frozen. I called the 1.877.NEOPIAN number, and explained the situation to them and they canceled the Premium membership for me. I think they did talk to her at one point, to make sure it was her account and that I wasn't just someone calling to say I was her and mess with her account. We both have Premium now and I'm just hoping that should anything happen to our accounts, we'll get the same awesome service! She had Premium for almost a year before her account was hacked. No problems at all! It's definitely great if you're an avid Neopets player like she is. :)
Nika
I looked at that link and yeah, maybe the customer service is lacking, but many of those people sound way unreasonable. The idea that neopets is "stepping on" people doesn't make sense--they provide a free site! It is incredibly frustrating when they can't resolve your claim, but also they do a lot of cool things for free and I think that far outweighs the bad. Someone cleaned out my account but luckily didn't get me frozen. Change your password often, put a pin on your gallery/bank/etc. and read the rules. I think these things go a long way towards keeping your account safe. I always heard about people having their accounts frozen for no reason, and the idea worries me. I still think it can happen--but I never considered that people might have done something against the rules unknowingly or by accident. I think that's a good point and I'm glad I read this! There are a lot of rules and it wouldn't be hard to break one unknowingly.
Saxen
I took a look at that link and most of the complaints are from a couple of years ago, or last year before the 'new premium' was introduced. Personally I've never had a problem with it. All my e-mails have been answered when I asked a question about Premium, and when I wanted to quit it on my old main account I was responded to the next day. Obviously I hadn't been frozen, so it's a little different. If you're worried I'd pay monthly via paypal like I do. That way if you got frozen again it would be easier to cancel ^_^
