vampire_girl Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 I haven't been on Neopets for almost whole week and guess what I had to see? Nothing, because everything was stolen! Almost everything! Over 900k NPs and over 300 items from SDB! And what's the best thing, it happened again! How could this happen??? I have changed every possible password on all accounts that I own and I re-installed Windows completly! And I have done everything what needed(from TDN guide about CGs). How could this happen if I haven't visited anybody's Lookup??.... :crying: Quote
maldoror122 Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 So I assume you have a PIN on everything? That's just terrible :( Quote
vampire_girl Posted September 19, 2010 Author Posted September 19, 2010 So I assume you have a PIN on everything? That's just terrible :( Yes, I have PIN and that person still made to get in... And password is... was really long. :grrr: Quote
maldoror122 Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 Okay, that's just plain scary. :( I hope some of the more experienced members will have an explanation for this :) Quote
Viridian Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 I forgot what happened to you before exactly.. Did someone stole money from you before? Or was there an email change request? Sorry for you :( This is a nasty time on neopets, apparently... Quote
hrtbrk Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 Unfortunately, CGers weren't only on lookups this time around. They were on the neoboards, in shops, on lookups and reportedly also being sent via neomail. My ideas to keep your account safe: 1) Use Firefox. There is an add-on called No-Script. It blocks Javascript. You will have to allow it access in order for it to be used. (So you can allow trusted pages access, but deny shops, look ups etc). 2) Use GMAIL. Their security is the best. Obviously, use a much different password than you use on Neo, but Gmail will detect and alert you of any strange activity on your account. It logs every time you log in and what IP address it came from (you can also check this at any time). If there's something out of the ordinary, they'll alert you ASAP. If you already had all of this implemented, could it be someone you know? Quote
brody Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 How do people get hacked by looking at user lookups? I've never heard of that before, and I love going to people's user lookups to look at the layout and trophies. This might be moot, I'm gonna go google it. Quote
hrtbrk Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 They hide a code on their lookup that steals your internet cookie (what allows you to return to a website without having to log in every time), so they can gain all of your information stored in that specific cookie. Quote
