Need Help Restoring My Settings

My OS is Windows Vista Home Premium

My Laptop is an HP Pavillion dv2000 series

So here's my problem I just finished installing updates and now that my laptop has restarted my appearance settings are all wonky. Instead of having the classic vista look for my toolbar and my windows I ended up with the old school windows. Which is very very boring.

I have no idea how to change this. I've gone through my personalize menu and nothing's there. Also my colour only goes up to 32bit.

If anyone can help that would be wonderful! I'm stumped!

EDIT: Thanks for the suggestion. I did try that but it did absolutely nothing for me. so i resorted to doing a system restore that took me three days ahead of the problem with my settings. when i finished installing the latest updates again everything still had my settings, so I was thrilled.

On my laptop, which is a Dell, if you right click on the desktop main screen then a bunch of options show up. If you click Properties, then it automatically takes you to the place where you can change all of your settings such as the theme of the Windows etc. I hope I helped! You can also change the color there. :)

For Windows Vista

Control Panel >Personalization>Change Windows Appearence > Windows Areo

or

Control Panel >Personalization>Change Windows Appearence > View Classic Settings > Windows Areo.

Areo is probably disabled. The program must of disabled the new feature in Windows Vista "Areo".

EDIT:Nevermind I see you got it. Try this next time before restore if it does not work, system restore.
