How to recover formatted files?

I was trying to format the USB flash drive, but I accidentally formatted my external hard drive. I lost all my files and I want to get them back. Can anyone suggest me a program that can help to recover formatted files? My external hard drive is pretty new. I bought it last month from Newegg via http://www.dealrocker.com online deal. I don't wanna anything that can damage the hard drive. I would prefer something safe and easy. Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance.

Look for a data recovery program on the internet. I don't have any suggestions on a good program to look for though. Data recovery programs should be able to restore your files, as long as you haven't written anything to the drive since reformatting it. If you don't want to do the work yourself, a computer shop should be able to do it for you. Good luck getting your stuff back.

Your safest bet would be to ask a specialized computer tech. I wish I knew how you managed to accidentally format your hard drive though. That seems tricky. lol

Anywho... if you don't want to take any chances take it to a computer tech.

Like the other have said the best bet is to ask a computer specialist.

I am not sure how Tech Savvy you are, but if you are feeling up to it, then you can find many free software online to recover your files you lose when you formatted your hard disk.

I personally have used "Data Recovery Wizard" in the past and can say it is easy to use, well I found it easy, and will be able to solve your problem, however it isn't free. Unfortunately that is the only software of its kind I have used, but just by searching "Free Data Recovery" I found these sites :

I wish you all the best. I must say, if those files are very important to you, the price of a Computer Specialist is worth it.

Probably you would need a computer pro since online is not always reliable unless you know what you are doing. Sometimes formatting something means no recovery in most cases but it can be possible.

Remember never format your main drive where your computer OS is installed (Windows XP,Vista,7 , Mac OS x .etc)
