Neopets translations

I was about to play the new game Island Chef academy, but I didn't understand the instructions in english, so I switched them to spanish, my language...

I don't know if this only happens with spanish, but the transltation was... Really awful, so awful It was funny.

I send them an email, but I don't know, a big company like neopets/nickelodeon should care a little bit more about other languages rather than english...

I've just checked the French translation of the game, and it's quite funny too.

Here are two samples... of odd sentences.

"Bienvenue à l'Académie du Chef de l'Île! Tu es ouvert au publique."

"Tes ingrédients vont se terminer."

It just adds to the reasons why I don't play Neopets in my primary language. The translation (when there is one), is kinda lame and the whole site sounds very childish.

You espiecally think they would for a lanugage like spanish, as (of course besides Chinese)its the most widely spoken language across the globe...

However, I wouldn't know, I'm English and if you know anything about us brits, we're so language illiterate it takes us 6 years to master "Ich liebe du", lol ^_^

I went to Amsterdam and I was so ashamed of how poor my dutch was compared to their English... I am guilty of "well every where I go, they speak English anyway, and better than I can speak their lanugage..." But I do try the "Hello"'s "Thank you"'s and the "I'm sorry, I'm English" ^_^

English is the fastest growing language and is the largest spoken second lanugage, but even for a lot of English people English isn't there first lanugage due to imigration and culture conservation.

But anyway, thats kind of off topic. I'm still shocked that they wouldn't make the Spanish better, and even the french. I wonder about the German too, as English and German are so similar... Stupid question, but do you get nickelodeon in your countries? And the nick cartoon's like sponge bob? Because if you do, then they've got even less of an excuse - they can put there TV into another language but not their website? Definately not awsome sauce...

Yes they do broadcast in Canada... (and in French)

After a quick look at Wikipedia, I can tell that they also have divisions in : Canada, the UK, United Arab Emirates, Australia, Brazil, CIS, Europe, Germany, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Latin America, Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, Poland, Portugal, France, Scandinavia, South East Asia, Sweden and Denmark.

I get that too with dutch. I've been wanting to apply as a translator for Neo back in the days, but it seems they have taken that application down :P

I thought abut that too. Seriously, I doubt they hire professional translators, I could do better than that!

hehe, I like "Tes ingrédients vont se terminer."

Wow, I thought the translations would be better. Honestly, I never noticed before because I've only used the site in English.
