Computer keeps crashing.

It could be anything, perhaps you can be more specific. Perhaps you got a virus, maybe there's a loose connection somewhere in your computer or a specific file missing to run windows.

Crashing as in.. the blue screen of death or just power off?

It COULD be a virus at work. You might have a computer registry error as well.

Every time you install or uninstall a new program, your registry entries in your registry are changed, and may not be restored to their original settings. Over time, the errors in the computer registry become overwhelming.

The first effects you will experience on your computer are the slowing of processing speed, followed by frequent computer crashes. As a result of the crashes, the user will need to restart the computer frequently. But no matter how many times the computer is restarted, the root problems in the registry are not resolved, and the computer will still crash and run slow.

One simple solution to this problem would be to buy a registry cleaner. They are effective software that are specially created to detect and repair errors and useless entries in the registry.

If you can, open up the computer and check the capacitors on the motherboard...

If they look like this: http://www.eventlogblog.com/blog/2008/01/18/Bad.jpg

it's bad. Obviously. they should be flat.

I can give better advice once I get specs and what your definition of crashing is.

Can you describe exactly what you mean by crashing? Is it locking up in Windows, blue screen, powering off, rebooting, etc? Any funny noises? Also, some information about your computer's specs would help.

As with everyone else, we need more information to be able to help you. I'd recommend taking it to an ITS office somewhere. A local college, a library, somewhere like that. If you look around you can get free service help if it's not some huge issue.

I agree with dasbif. Unless you can give us more information, we can't help you. I suggest seeing a computer specialist. They could tell you the best possible method. Note that they might have to put in a new hard-drive, so save your stuff onto a flash drive before bringing it in.

I had a problem with the blue screen.. turns out the issue was just that my fan was clogged with dust and cat hair!! You have no idea how many times I reformatted, ran virus tests, installed various programs to find the virus, cleaned the registry.. etc.

Check your fan! LOL I know it sounds dumb but trust me, it could save time! XD
