SDB Tool

Recommended Posts

This is what this sheet can do:

A) Collect info from the JN itemdatabase

B) Collect info from your SDB

C) You get a list of all your SDB items with their values

(as stated in the JN itemdatabase)

I'll add more details for each item later. (Like rarity, ID's)

PS: If you start collecting info from the JN itemdatabase, this can take a while, depending on which category you collect from. If you collect item info from a big category, like books. It can take up to 10 minutes. But if you collect from a small one, like booktastic books, it will take less then a minute.

Other sheet I made in the past:

*Edit*

Mayor update:

*Sheet now standard includes all foods/books, so you only need to update the prices of these items once every few months.

*Sheet now works twice as fast!

*You don't see what the macro is processing. (To increase speed)

*Popup message when data is collected

*Some small bug fixes

Next update will include:

*An extra columns with item rarities will be added to the SDB list.

*A FAQ will be included.

*Some minor bugs will be fixed. (like instruments category has a comma behind its name and the sheet will stop working when a RE occurs. A friend of me got a draik trans in a random event while the sheet was collecting data! Although he was very happy with it, the sheet stopped working and he could restart collecting data from his sdb!)

*If you have any idea's or suggestions. Post them here. A lot is possible :)

I hope you enjoy using this sheet :)

I don't think I have anything valuable in there; I only put stuff in for the Pack Rat avvie ^^"

You put stuff in there from old plots; advent calenders; RE;... which you thought were worthless...

But in the end, some may actually turn out to be quite valuable :)

Life is like a box of chocolates,.. you never know what you're going to get ;)

*Edit*

UPDATE:

I just fixed a mayor bug! Please download the sheet again. (I've uploaded new version).

This bug caused the sheet to collect data from the wrong category of your SDB.

*Edit2*

Mayor updates! (see post#1)

i can't seem to get this to work.

for some reason, the macros arent working.

do i have to have the sdb open?

aw stupid me!

In my own version of excel I have macro's automaticaly enabled.

I forgot to put an explanation on the sheet on how to enable the macro's.

I'll post it here then, and in the next version of the sheet I'll include a FAQ.

I've also edited post #1 of this topic.

*Edit (better explanation)

If the buttons don't work, you'll need to enable macro's.

Methode A:

There should be a security warning somewhere on top of the screen.

This will probably show up right above the formula bar. Click on the

options button on this warning and a window will pop-up. Here you

Here you can enable macro's. If you don't get this warning, close

the excel file and open it again. Check if you get the security warning

now. If you still don't get it, try Methode B.

Methode B:

Click on the office icon on the upper left corner of this document.

On the lower right corner of this dropdown menu, you can find a

button "Options for Excel". Click on it and a window will popup.

There are 3 checkboxes on the upper section of the window. Mark

the third checkbox. (it should state something like show tab for

developers). Now go close this window and there should be a new

tab on top called "developers". Open this tab. In the left section

there is an option "macro security". Click on it. There are now 4

options to choose from. Select the last one, enabling all macro's

automatically. Close the excel file and reopen it again.

I should interject that enabling all macros automatically is a potential security risk - macros can (and have been used to) carry malware, so use totally permissive settings with care.

But I can assure you, this sheet does not contain any mallware or other bad things. :)

While I can't say I'm qualified to do a reliable security audit, I can second this statement to some degree - it's a neat tool and doesn't appear to be doing anything shifty.

And yes, I've been waiting all these years to use the word 'shifty' in an actual conversation. :P

Haha, thank you very much! :)

If anyone has any suggestions or ideas on how I can make this tool better, please post them here :)

Shifty is a pretty fun word if I do say so myself. ;)

Anyway, what a neat tool! I'll be sure to use it myself as soon as Microsoft Office and my computer stops teaming up and making my life miserable (...this might take a couple of months).

This is a great tool. I've just used it and wow.. saving stuff really pays off :)

Have you thought of adapting this so it does the same thing for galleries?

Yeah, I've thought about it.

I'm just back from a holiday, and I'll start working on a better version now.

Next version will include:

*Faster data collecting

*Include rarity

*Being able to sort on item ID/release. (Won't show the actual ID though)

*I'll import a list of almost all item values. (so you won't need to do it yourself the first time.)

*I'll include an option to import a list of all item values. (This list will be updated once a month, you'll see when it's last updated)

*I'll include an option to collect data from your gallery.

Note: Prices of very unbuyable items are often incorrect.

I remember having talked about this idea with you ages ago, and I am so glad you were able to get it to work. Its such an awesome tool. I have so many items in my SDB so this really is an asset. I hope everyone tries it out!! :)
