People Neomailing Begging ..

i am quite annoyed right now to say the least lol and i need to have a little rant :$ sorry guys haha

right after bidding on an item in an auction, i get this neomail from someone i've never talked to, encountered or anything ..

Subject: HELLO

Message: CAN YOU HELP ME by buying from my shop IF you can

first of all .. why would she neomail me, someone she's never talked to, asking for neopoints.. like i'm all for helping out my friends, i bought my friend a disco paint brush a few weeks ago to get her dream pet .. but not someone i've never even talked to .

she continued to tell me that we were actually friends before she quit neopets but she forgets her old username .. and to please help her because she's saving for a grey pb

i have been friends with the same two people all my neo-life lol .. my sister and my old babysitter.. and now people i've met on here and real life friends

so not only has this girl neomailed me begging, now she's lying to me in order for me to give her points !

is this a reportable offence? i probably won't report her because it's more just annoying .. but honestly ! some people .. :S

I would report this user. There are plenty of annoying beggars on Neopets, but this person has gone a bit beyond annoying begging. If it is someone that you are sure you don't know, and they are pretending to be a friend of yours, then I would say that they're moving into the realm of scamming.

I've had this happen before when I adopted a pet from the pound and a user Neomailed me to make sure that I took care of the pet and that they were sad they had to give the pet away but they had no more room for it. I decided to just ignore it, and when I zapped the pet at the lab ray and I decided I didn't want it anymore and I put it back in the pound, this person Neomailed me AGAIN to ask my what I did with the pet. So either this person just felt very attached to their pet or they were crazy haha. Either way I blocked them. But you are going to find people like that all the time, if they aren't trying to steal your account they want to get something out of you. (And sometimes just plain creep you out haha)

For the record, I've done this before. When I had recently come back to Neopets a few months back, I decided to pound and adopt out a lot of the pets that were just sitting on my accounts. However, it was usually just a quick blurb about being thankful that said person adopted them. I don't understand why you would ignore them and then block them. Some people are just curious and still attached to some of the pets they pound. I know I was. I still, on occasion, check up on pets that I have pounded.

To stay on topic...

If the person is genuinely harassing you, block and report. But if someone is just being nice (like I'm sure the girl was about the pounded pet), don't just be blatantly rude about it. :U

Sorry but its not about begging.

I have an adoption agency and I have pets that I adopt from the pound.

One pet I received was a purple chia and last night, I got the following:

Why is nelluma UFA!?

She was my pet and I gave her to my neofriend and now she is UFA!?!?!?!

Now I feel bad because this girl might be lying just so I make sure I give her the pet when I would have given to her anyways if she had just asked for it. Leaving me to determine whether she really deserves it.

People begging/scamming for neopoints is annoying enough, but begging/scamming for neopets is even worse! :( Just ignore her unless she can come up with some proof that the pet is really hers. (Like a screeshot dated 1/1/2009 or something.) She doesn't have to give you an attitude when you didn't steal her pet or anything.

I know, right? With it being an adoption agency and all I am obliged to give her the pet.

One thing I don't understand though. How did she find the pet in my agency?

I mean when you search a pet, it mentions an owner but not whether or not the pet is in an agency. The pet she is looking is in a side account so how did she know it was there?

If she really was the owner... Maybe she googled her pet's name. (You'd be surprised how many things you can find when you put, Pet name + neopets + adopt or something like that.) Or maybe she was looking for a pet to adopt at your agency when she saw her own pet and she was all like, "HEY!"

Did you mention in her/his pet page that she/he is up for adoption at ____ Agency?

If she's not the owner (and her attitude doesn't convince me that she's the owner...), she was probably looking for a pet to adopt and liked what she saw at your agency. But she was too lazy to send you a polite letter saying she really likes the pet, she'd love to be his/her new owner, etc..

Well I've been on here for little under a month, so I'm definitely a poor newbie, and I've had begging messages. I gave away an item on the Money Tree which turned out to be worth 50np, when I'd thought it was a 1np item, so the lucky person neomessaged me and asked if I was having a clear out of items, and if I was could I please send her all of my items and neopoints because she wanted to give them to the cancer kids who she worked with - she had made them all neopet accounts.

Now, I don't want to criticise in case it is true, but if it's not true, then that is so, so low. If it is true, then sorry to be a mean old nasty, but each member regardless of their circumstances has a fair chance of earning like everybody else in the honest way, as a new member I can't afford to give items away. 0:)

I replied and said: "No, sorry, I mistakenly donated that item! Congrats on getting it though, sorry to hear about the kids you work with, that's a very brave thing you do, but I'm only a newbie so don't have any items that I can give away :) Thanks though"

Reply from her said "Yeah whatever go away."

I wont give out her username, but if you hear of a similar story, don't believe it. Sad thing is, with her grammar, story and 'circumstance' I wasn't so sure it was a kid. If it's an adult doing it, they should know better :evil_notsmiling:  o_O

You know I bet it was the same person who did that to me like 3 days ago as I had bid on an item and got the same message. The funny thing is this person shouldn't need the np, as we were both bidding on a rather expensive item and she actually won the item. I'm sorry, but if you can spend 370K easily on a nerkmid, you shouldn't need to beg for people to see your shop. I didn't bother visiting her shop or web page in case there was a cg in it. I just deleted the message and never heard from them again...yet.

*twitches and story laurenftw posted*

If i had gotten her username, i probably would of gotten my account banned for flaming and harassing them >.<; You cannot use the 'C' word to scam users like that, even if its for a few hundred NP, thats just so low it makes me so mad xP

*smacks them over the head anyway in hopes the idiot grows some common sense*

Usually if i get something like this i just ignore it, i can't be bothered replying

Are you SERIOUS? That's the most disgusting thing I've heard all day. I just... Ugh. I give money to people on the subway begging while saying they have AIDS, knowing most of them are lying... But don't mess around with CHILDREN who have cancer because you want to scam NEOPOINTS. That's sick.

I supposed I'm lucky, I've only ever received one neomail advertising a shop, and it wasn't even begging.

Hearing about people lying about cancer kids is just sick. Of course, when I think about the things people do on neopets anyway (hacking/scamming, harassment, and all of those 'unmentionables') I feel disgusted. After all, Neopets is a kids site. I just don't see why anyone would even want to waste their time stealing accounts and bothering people. All I know about them is that they don't have any lives.

Anyway, to stay on topic, like others have said, just block and report. ;)
