Tamara
This is my first attempt at a custom userlookup. I submitted it to the Lookup of the Week. I have my fingers crosses, maybe I'll be considered. :3 Please, I'd love to hear your thoughts and opinions. Is it original enough? Think it would be considered? Thanks! http://www.neopets.com/userlookup.phtml?user=tamstari
Tre Le Coco
looks pretty cool for your first ^^ but being a graphic designer my eyes scroll onto all the little mistakes i've been told to avoid myself lol >.> i'll give some useful tips you might be interested in using :) Overall i give it a 7 our of 10, nice colours and easy on the eyes and a lovely theme, but on my monitor/browser your graphic boxes are a tad off from the text; http://www.menewsha.com/img/22960/4daa0cef...faad9ec9462.png http://www.menewsha.com/img/22960/21dcd8cb...c67037205e9.png In the first image, i suggest moving the cloud to the left 10 pixels or so, so it doesn't touch the text at the tip and move the bottom of the boxes down by...im going to guess 35 pixels. In the second image i would suggest moving the bottom of the boxes down too for the pets and info box so it all fits in fine with room below it. As for the about box, i'd suggest moving that cloud down 20-30 pixels so the text doesn't go over it, very big pet peeve of mine >.> if i can't read the text clearly i won't bother reading it. Might also be an idea to move the page navigation (the text, not the image) down by 5 pixels or so, to be in the middle of the box. Another pet peeve of mine (this applies to everyone who does this with their profiles, not just you xD; ), but personally i don't see a logical reason for the top image to be so darn huge, it doesn't really make me want to scroll down and look at your profile, makes me want to hit the back button actually xD; For future reference i don't see any reason for it to be bigger than 600 pixels, at the max. Wow that was a mouthful xD;
caliama
Heh, I'm not a graphic designer or anything, but here's my opinion: Like Tre Le Coco said, the colors go nicely together and are easy on the eyes. And I love blue. ^^ The clouds give it a mysterious sort of feeling, and I do suggest moving them as Tre Le Coco pointed out because they lead my eye off the page. So, viewed from a non-graphic designer view (=P), I'd give your lookie 8.5/10. =)
celticheavens
Basically Tre Le Coco said the main points that jumped at me XD. I'm a graphics designer too but I'm a lot less meticulous sadly! I'll have to go with 7/10 too. I do like the banner image though, quite serene indeed. The general colour scheme isn't too painful on the eyes but I'll have to say, the font of the subheadings (ie info; about etc) look a tad out of place as compared to the overall layout. The cloud snaking into the layout is indeed an interesting idea, but the alignment might be an issue for computers of different resolutions. I suggest always using a fixed layout code (Ie. Absolute pixels dimensions instead of percentage) if you have done so. If it's a simple mistake it's fine :) Sorry to nitpick but if you do shift the clouds and all, I suggest making the navigation box a tad darker (increased opacity) so that the 'g' of the stargazers (main text of the banner) does not end up getting overlapped by 'news', making it harder to read the latter. I have to say in general, the layout is a little plain despite the clouds but a wonderful first attempt! You'll feel like a prodigy after seeing my first attempt -.-. If you want to add more of a wow factor to it, I suggest making custom bg designs for the different text areas (ie. info, about, stargazers etc). Something similar to small designs at the bottom of the box which accentuates the overall feel yet does not clash with the text or steal the attention away from the info in the boxes. ;) Sorry if I sound a little know-it-all-ish! @_@ I see potential in your layout concept so the above is my 2 cents worth to improve it XD. fashiongirl25
Wow! It's beautiful. Have hope, your lookup is great enough to win lookup of the week. :)
flyingeevee
That's REALLY good for a first try!!! =3 If you don't mind me asking you and everyone that sees this, what all guides do you use for complete n00bs on graphing and what's a good place for free to adjust pictures in various ways? ^^ I wanna learn to make my own userlookup...but I'm really bad when it comes to css ^^;
May.
Wow, I think it's stunning. o: I can never code my own userlookups. xD That background image is one of my favorites. ^^ I love the theme, good luck in the userlookup of the week! :]
Noog
It's a lot better than most of the lookups that I have made in the past. I'm sure that it will win the spotlight soon :) 9/
Xepha
It looks good in Safari :) I know the font might be different in other browser, but everything is well fitting for me XD
Linddz
That's really good. I wish you the best of luck (:
Tamara
Thanks guys. Overall i give it a 7 our of 10, nice colours and easy on the eyes and a lovely theme, but on my monitor/browser your graphic boxes are a tad off from the text;http://www.menewsha.com/img/22960/4daa0cef...faad9ec9462.png http://www.menewsha.com/img/22960/21dcd8cb...c67037205e9.png What browsers do you use? Are you on a Mac or PC? Because for some reason your browser is ignoring what I set as the text and is making it bold and larger than what its supposed to. I'm not sure whether or not thats an issue with the browser not reading the css coding, but I tested it on Firefox and IE, on two computers with different resolutions and it looks fine. None of the text is off on my screen. I'm pretty close to being a perfectionist, so it might be why this took me almost 3 days to complete. I redouble check that everything is fitting correctly on the screen. And error like that would've bugged me. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v725/tam...ie/screenie.jpg Another pet peeve of mine (this applies to everyone who does this with their profiles, not just you xD; ), but personally i don't see a logical reason for the top image to be so darn huge, it doesn't really make me want to scroll down and look at your profile, makes me want to hit the back button actually xD; For future reference i don't see any reason for it to be bigger than 600 pixels, at the max. You're probably right, but I guess it did that more for the "dramatic" effect - because you have to admit the drawing is really pretty. :O But, yeah, good point. Next time I work on one, I'll make it less dramatic. Haha. I do like the banner image though, quite serene indeed. The general colour scheme isn't too painful on the eyes but I'll have to say, the font of the subheadings (ie info; about etc) look a tad out of place as compared to the overall layout. Took the colors from the eye of the Krawk, so they are meant to stand out a bit more than everything else - just like the Krawk's eyes do. Maybe a softer tone of yellow, maybe? The cloud snaking into the layout is indeed an interesting idea, but the alignment might be an issue for computers of different resolutions. I suggest always using a fixed layout code (Ie. Absolute pixels dimensions instead of percentage) if you have done so. If it's a simple mistake it's fine smile.gif I usually don't ever use percentages. They're all absolute pixels. Not sure why it would look different on another computer, unless it doesn't read the code right? I have to say in general, the layout is a little plain despite the clouds but a wonderful first attempt! You'll feel like a prodigy after seeing my first attempt -.-. If you want to add more of a wow factor to it, I suggest making custom bg designs for the different text areas (ie. info, about, stargazers etc). Can you give me some examples? I'm not sure what you mean about custom bg designs for the different text areas? I'd love some visual examples to give me an idea. You think its plain? I didn't want to make it flamboyant. I've seen some lookups that make me want to rip my eyes out. xD That's REALLY good for a first try!!! =3If you don't mind me asking you and everyone that sees this, what all guides do you use for complete n00bs on graphing and what's a good place for free to adjust pictures in various ways? ^^ I wanna learn to make my own userlookup...but I'm really bad when it comes to css ^^; Well, I learned a lot of my CSS as a kid. Mostly from lisaexplains. com (not sure if it exists at all anymore). Then I usually just lookup certain codes through google if I need it for something, but most of my CSS knowledge is self taught through a lot of interenet research. There are some websites online that can help you customize the position of the info, neopets and such for a Neopet layout.

A question though, did you draw that image? Thanks! Sadly, I didn't draw the image. It was made by Neopets. I might make a layout someday featuring my art, but right now I'm still trying to master drawing Neopets.

The overall feel is soft but the font is a little too edgy imo. http://img188.imageshack.us/gal.php?g=lookupeg.gif These might give you a better idea. I don't mean to make it flamboyant; that'll defeat the purpose of having the theme chosen in the first place. Perhaps some scanlines for the text area bg (or like the above visuals, adding various images) to add to the feel. No use overdoing the design I know but adding certain elements in the correct places takes the overall layout to a new level. Hope my comments will be of use :)

Technically, I can't use the first example, but the second one I can. I was originally going to put stars in the boxes; to make a variation - but I couldn't figure out how to set my brush so it wouldn't look weird. Then my tablet decided to stop working... then I gave up. LOL. Thanks for the advice!!
