A well swept day!

ctp_862.gifDay 9 of the Altador Cup has been something of a remarkable day, with no less than four teams (the Darigans, ninjas, krawks, and mummies) achieving total victory over their opponents! Competition is really heating up for the top spots in the championship, and everybody seems to want to pitch in with their opinions, so without further ado, let's head over to our (now fully recovered) field reporter, BlackJaguar.

"Thank you AA,

Yes, you heard (read) it right. The Krawk Island Pirates now gain the official (marginal) lead in this year’s Cup after they swept the host team during their encounter while the Kreludor Moons had a hard time with the Mystery Island Natives, which led to 2 draws and 2 wins on SS and SSD. According to the medics that covered the game, it seems that the gravitational pull of Neopia is taking its toll on the bodies of the Moons. When asked about it, Captain Derlyn Fonnet said:

We have been practicing hard on gravity generators since the last Cup. We haven’t lost a single Yooyuball match so I believe we are still on the right track. Last year, the Roos stayed in second place during the eliminations yet they still managed to win the cup. We’ll wait for the right moment to strike back and win this year.

Team Kreludor is hoping to take revenge by assassinating the Haunted Woods Zombies in their battle today while the Lost Desert Mummies are hoping to improve their standing by facing the Pirates. Watch out, these battles are going to get hot!

Reporting live from the colosseum, this is BlackJaguar for The Daily Neopets' AC4 coverage, signing-out."

Thanks for that BJ! Indeed, supporter reaction was somewhat scarce today, as it seems every team has some sort of big match in store on the 11th - a chance to pull through and gain some leverage on the leaderboard. The determined Tyrannian fossils, often described as 'scrappy' but showing serious mettle this year, battle last year's champions, the Roo Islanders, who are out to prove they're still in form despite their previous lacklustre performance. Another former champion, team Darigan Citadel, who have already proven themselves worthy opponents against the great powerhouses, now face team Virtupets, coolly unchallenged in Shootout Showdown and enduringly tenacious in every other game. Team Meridell, ready for some major butt-kicking after many disappointing results, crosses paths with Faerieland.

I think a brief salute to all Faerieland supporters is in order here. Despite harsh criticism and frequently crushing results, your persistence and dedication in the face of the stiffest opposition is truly inspiring!

And of course, we have the matches between the teams hanging around the top of the leaderboard, but you probably have those already circled on your calendars, and I've said enough for today, so I shall simply conclude with good luck!

Nice reporting, guys! :D

Also, great job to HW, you guys were formidable opponents. :) Congrats also to DC and KI, my two runners-up for fave teams! (For reasons undisclosed. :3 Though Coco may know why.)

To all Maraquan supporters, I wish you all the best today! Let's all go out for some tea afterwards, kay? :D

Unfortunately we have a match against DC directly after we take on you guys... but maybe we'll be able to fit something in. :P

There are on average nearly a million supporters for each team... that's one cramped tea party. :P

Keep playing everyone! :D

And it just so happens the four sweepers are also the top four teams! Perhaps my top four prediction may be a bit tweaked.

Today's game is gonna be great, KI! My sister's on the KI team and I'm on LD, so its gonna be fun battling against each other! I'm so hyped for this game. :woot:
