Bad Car Luck

So today, I find the fourth random big dent in my car from apparently parking in the unlucky spot of the day.

I realize that it might be a minority of the forum population that have cars, but for those who do, does anyone else have this sort of luck or is it just me?

You are not the only one. I hate when my husband takes the car because well, all of the unmarried Marines are rough on their cars and the cars that are parked next to theirs.

We bout our car in November with no dents, and now we have like five. And a bit of paint transfer from a blue car on our one door. When it's home, the car is parked in the garage, safe from other cars, so I know it happens when he takes it.

I always park the car pretty far from store doors because the walk won't kill me and there are no cars to smack into mine >_<

That's no fun at all. I'm sorry to hear that you seem to live in a city full of jerks that can't park. :P

I have never been subject to any major parking lot dents. Then again, I don't mind going out of my way to park in empty parts of parking lots. We own an extremely rare car (two, actually, but one just got retired to parts car status), so we try to keep it from harm. And I just got a new-to-me car last month, so I haven't had time to get it wrecked by other drivers just yet

I have, however, been suject to two attemped thefts on a former car of mine, only a couple months apart, which resulted in door damage and steering column damage. One of the attempted thefts happened in the parking garage of the apartment buikding I was living in at the time. Luckily, the insurance covered all repairs. We moved out of that city and sold that car shortly after the second theft attempt. Incidentally, my father-in-law's van also got hit by a drunk driver in that parking garage.

Well I still live at home with my parents (trying to save some money while in college) and i use their car. However since i have been using it (my brother did before me) nothing has really happened to it. The clear coating is peeling off but that started before i got it.

The only bad thing that has really happened is to the truck we have. It has been broken into twice within like a month and someone took the stereo. Which we all thought was stupid since it was maybe a 20 dollar one. Oh and best part was they broke part of the dash and the insurance said that it cost to much to repair it then it was worth so they totaled the car.

Long story short. Since i have been driving it (mainly to and from school) everything has been fine, before me, not so much.

I blame the dents I get on inexperienced college kids who don't have a lot of time under their belts with driving. Best way to forgive them, right?

And on a side note, is that your husband's blog, by chance?

Yes, it is. I realized we didn't have any other pictures of the car up on the web anywhere, so I posted a link to it. He hasn't updated in almost a year, though.

Jikuu, sorry, it's just you (mad cackling sound).

My husband, who doesn't believe in the nonsense I believe in reminds me that since I BELIEVE you can think things happen (like: I ALWAYS have parking where I want to go because I envision it, EXCEPT when he is in the car, because he doesn't believe it), says I am bringing on my recent car bad-luck, thinking that I am going to get stuck somewhere. And you know what? I stopped driving the car 3 weeks ago, because for 2 weeks before that EVERY TIME I took it out, I got stuck. 3 of those times I was towed, twice to be repaired and the last time HOME. My husband can deal with the car. It doesn't stall on him.

Well when I had my truck (before my divorce) I didnt put any dents in the truck. My now ex husband however, didnt put any dents in it just ran over a dead deer in the middle of the interstate and ripped the clutch cable in two and so it had to be replaced.

Now that Im divorced and back with my mom (shes disabled and a neo-player as well) I drive my grandmothers 2006 car and surprisingly none of the dents or anything on her car is from me. lol. I work nights and thats about all I do except on paydays and I go to town (I live in the country so town is like where walmart and such is - the big city compared to my dinky town). lol.

I don't own my own car, but I have seen a fair number of scratches and bumps on the family cars. (Some of them caused by me. *cough*)

We once came back to our car and saw someone had pushed a grocery cart up against it. Sure enough, when we pulled it back, there was a scratch. -___- Urgh...

Aw, don't be so hard on college kids! :( *is a college kid* I'm sure their cars get enough dents and scratches from those darn college freshman kids! :laughingsmiley:

Oh, goodness, I'm a college kid too and I try to be extra careful! I do believe though that the first car a new driver gets should be a used car, if not one you just don't care about anymore. Let's face it; they're learning, and something's going to happen. They're called accidents for a reason.

Last week I brought my car to my father's shop to put the summer tires back on, clean it out, and all that regular stuff. Finally after doing everything that I wanted, I started driving back home. About an hour into the trip I realize that it's pulling really hard to the right, so I stop, give a call to my old man and he says that the rotor must have broken. I drove it back and I had to leave it there for a week.

:(

Ooh, I'm so sorry to hear that. That's a lot worse than a car ding. Thankfully, I've only had that happen in the family with an old New Yorker that had one wheel in the junkyard anyway.
