Moody
<sigh> To sum up, my account was frozen for using the word EVAL. It was tagged by the Neopets computer program watchdog as PROFANITY. Although I consider myself pretty much up with the times since I have a 35 year old daughter, perhaps I missed some new euphemism? Tell me, does the word EVAL mean something I don't know about... something more than a shortened version of EVALUATION? I have emailed Neopets trying to get my account back but first round, they said no. The rest of this post will be the details and you really don't need to read it. It's where I whine and cry about the special things I have lost, and how I am really a nice person, and exactly what happened. But really, the question is, what the heck does EVAL mean? the whole sad story: I am a 56 year old nurse. My daughter is just finishing college. She told me about Neopets (I was on *shudder* Webkinz at the time), she said it was so fun! I tried it and was hooked! I totally dropped out of Webkinz. I was delighted with Neopets. That was three months ago. I have played fair; I have even been nice! so a couple of weeks ago, my daughter, my ONLY neofriend, neomails me that she has an eval with one of her professors. To her, the body of the neopmail looks normal, no warnings, no OOPS popups. But when I receive it, it says: "I have an -disallowed word- with V----". Curious as to what she's trying to say, I email back. I write, "check out what you wrote - did you write -disallowed word- or something else? Did you swear?" I thould SHE typed disallowed word. She neomails me back laughing, and says she typed the shortened four letter version of evaluation (Eval). Well, we had a laugh over that. We said maybe the eval was so difficult in real life that even neomail was covering it up. Since I did not receive an OOPS popup, or some type of warning, I figured it was a computer glitch. I think I remember receiving a warning the first time I typed a swear in a neomail (again to my adult daughter), so we used other more creative ways of expressing the unexpressable. For example we used Flying Truck as an adjective : ) Anyway, I sent her a neomail with EVAL in the title to see if maybe the problem was only in the body of the neomail and not anywhere else. I hit send and got the notice my account was frozen for profanity. I had NO idea what that was about (unless they had, perhaps, unravelled our secret flying truck word - or bastage - that was another word we used. Then it dawned on me - EVAL. I was certain Neopets would give my account back once they saw there was some kind of computer glitch on their part, all would be well. But I think that they did not read the form I filled out to request the unfreezing of frozen accounts, probably because they get thousands a day because they denied it. So I emailed again but haven't heard. I had things on my account that I worked very hard for. I did the Daily Dare Challenge and the Springfest. I bought NC Mall cards for myself and my daughter (over time over $50) and had NC Mall items that are now no longer available. I had even bought three plushies for KeyQuest and received another as a gift, all special. I had amassed treasures that were meaningful to me, and was collecting, for fun, waterlogged books that I paid only one neopoint for (I had 71 so far). Having just gotten the pack rat avatar, I had over 1000 items in SDB, 300+K in stocks, and collected cool backgrounds. And because I supported neopets, I clicked on banners, and promoted them to others. When I left Webkinz, I wrote, in a forum I was in, all about Neopets including the link and said how much fun it was. I am a good person. I basically follow the rules. I am not wreaking havoc neither am I being rude or obnoxious (while other have names like "getinvanIhavecandy, or dam03nit0, or mistress---69smb). One of the last things I did before getting frozen was to send some backgrounds to someone new. I had been looking for invisible ink which was very expensive. By chance, I found it in a shop for 10 times less and grabbed it. Since I had gotten such a good deal, I checked the shop owner and saw they were new. So i sent them a thank you and backgrounds to match their pets. But the thing that hurts me the most is that my daughter, to acknowledge my love of art, saved her neopoints to get me the artist studio background, the artist smock, and a plethora of virtual art materials - all now unavailable. And I have lost that, for typing a non-profane word: eval. Thank you for reading.
Xepha
I can see why they are disallowing that word. It's not a swear word, but it's a command used to activated script, which could be used to scam people. You can try to contact them again and hopefully you will get a more comprehensive staff to read your email. (They do read them, and they do send different replies too...) Yes the process is annoying. My account is still frozen even though I haven't done what they say I did. Good luck with all of that!

I wish you well in your pursuit to unfreeze! Best ~ Moody
Xepha
Yea, I found that on google to be honest :P You had me curious as of why it was blocked... But it seems it is for a safety reason. So no bad script are run on Neopets to steal accounts and scam people...
