Earth day is approaching, any plans?

I love Earth day! I don't know of any goings ons around in my city, although I'm sure there are a ton because I live in a fairly big one, but at the least I can plant some flowers! I'd love to help a group plant trees somewhere.. That would be so ultimate!

For my birthday (which is after Earth Day), we're having a big tree-planting here. :D We're aiming for over one thousand trees to be planted. If only you were here, I'd invite you! ^^

 

And my org in college, we're supposed to have an earth-friendly picnic on campus. Either that or biking for clean air. Not exactly sure. XD

wow, In my country people don't do anithing for this day :( which is terrile... I'll go with my mother and plant some trees arround here. :D

there's so many things that were capable of helping our world. planting trees, saving energy... all we need is to follow through for it xD so people, turn off the lights when your not using it, turn off your computers over night.. and lots lots more ^_^

Anyway, as someone who believes in environmental advocacy, I believe that there's so much that can be done to help our planet. Like dazngurl said, the little things can really add up to a lot. But I also believe that while you DO all these things, you should make other people aware. Like Earth Hour, a lot of people turned off their lights in support of the environment and against global warming.

 

In my uni, we're implementing a system in our cafeterias where we no longer use disposable containers like paper plates, plastic cups, etc. Because that's what we saw made up most of our trash (trust me, I've sifted through it). So that's a start in getting people aware. :D

 

It's really making others aware that they have responsibilities outside their own circles, they have a responsibility to our planet and our environment. Scientists say that if humans didn't exist, the world wouldn't be facing so many environmental problems right now. At least we're starting. And it's NOT too late, don't let the skeptics tell you that. :)

 

*climbs down soapbox* Hehe, sorry, couldn't resist. I see an environmental topic and jump all over it. :) Anyway, I hope the forum members do something on Earth Day, it's still a start, people! 8D

Actually you don't to do all that on that day, you can always do it when you have the time like saving energy :)

I probably won't be doing anything specifically for Earth Day, since my family and I plant trees/grow veggies every spring anyway. We just don't do it on a specific day. :/
