Deepti M. Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 I have Norton 360 and mine has not worn out. I don't know if it is safe to do it yet, maybe wait and try to get it examined professionally. Quote
odee Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 dell or microsoft? Dell is on hardware while microsoft is about software. you can actually have a Dell pc with a microsoft OS Quote
Deepti M. Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 Well, I think she has a Dell, because I was the second person to vote on the poll, and there was a Dell vote on there... Quote
ΩCCΩ Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 We have three computers and all of them have microsoft. Quote
Deepti M. Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 I have 7 computers at my house, and 4 of them are Dell and 3 of them are Apple, without any problems. Quote
Daily Dare Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 Just so you know, if the Windows OS is pre-installed onto the Dell computer(s), then Dell holds the warranty for it, not Microsoft. If you call Microsoft to help fix this (if it has crashed and won't boot up), it will be a 79$ credit card charge to speak with a Microsoft technician. Just so you know... Quote
Malisa09 Posted April 8, 2009 Author Posted April 8, 2009 Yah i have a dell with microsoft. My dads computer keeps having the blue error screen come up then it locks up. Our computers are about 2 rooms apart small rooms Quote
hrtbrk Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 Oh no! The dredded Blue Screen of Death? (That's actually what it's called). Good luck with that one. It's given me plenty of headaches before all of which resulted in poorly made drivers. As long as you're surfing on safe websites (if you haven't installed new protection), using your other computer should be okay. Quote
Unstream Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 I'm not too sure about how safe it is, cause I don't know anything about that, but if you want a new anti-virus system, I've heard Avast and AVG are both good ones. Quote
Daily Dare Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 Unless you KNOW you have viruses, don't call Microsoft. Your warranty is with Dell, NOT Microsoft. If you have viruses, we will help you for free (if you can browse the web, go to www.safety.live.com and click on "full service scan" first), if you CAN'T browse the web, then we will get you to technicians ASAP and for free. :) Aren't you glad a Microsoft employee is on this forum? :) Quote
dazngurl Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 my dad is a computer guy so he gets new computers every now and then lol. so we have like a lot of computers at home. but we dont use everything Quote
Taliesan Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 Dell is hardware, microsoft is software - I'm personally using a HP laptop. Its safe to use a computer if the anti-virus does not work but you must be aware that the chance of downloading a virus unoticed increases greatly. Same with spyware, tracking cookies that sort of thing. Theres plenty of free virus and spyware scanners available online. I recommend Avast! and Spybot search and destroy personally. Just be careful with downloads and if you need to send files/folders to others tell them to scan before opening to be on the safe side. Quote
