CasiCane. Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 Because I'm nosy and curious, figured I'd post a little question for everyone. This happened to me yesterday. I just got a Illusen Heart Charm from my NC card as the bonus item, and wanted to see how much it was worth. Looks around 60k and up. I went to the Trading Post, and all someone wanted on their wishlist was a Blue Ixi Plushie. I wondered o.o....that's really not a good trade lmao. So I went to their profile, and their account was only 3 days old. So if you came across a similar situation, would you offer them then cheap 10np plushie for the 60k item, or would you tell them or do the "moral" thing? I offered a Blue Ixi Plushie AND 4k just for a little extra :D haha. Quote
Deepti M. Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 Honestly, I actually went in there and put up a trade 2. Same as u. xD But, he hasn't logged in for four days so chances are we won't get anything. :( Quote
Unstream Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 Heh heh, truthfully, I'd probably take the offer. The thing is, he probably has so many, so yours might not be taken. Quote
CasiCane. Posted March 10, 2009 Author Posted March 10, 2009 Yeah true. But it's worth a shot right? :D No way! Lmao, sounds like we offered on the same exact lot or something. *glares at* :P He's probably one of those people that makes a neopets, does like 2 things, then never ever get on again x-x Quote
heerozero Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 I probably wouldn't to anything. I wouldn't enter the trade because I'd feel bad for taking advantage of them, but I figure if you don't check first, it's kinda your fault. Quote
amitybelle Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 TNT have stated that if you take advantage of newer players by trying to sell them items for WAY more than they're worth, you will be frozen. I understand this is their wishlist but to me, it's the same thing. I have Neomailed a couple of newbies to tell them what they're selling is worth a lot more. Sometimes they write back thanking me. Maybe I am too nice but I don't feel right letting them get ripped off, and there are plenty of people willing to rip you off... Quote
Unstream Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 It's not a freezable offense though. You're not tricking them into giving you a better deal. You're just giving them what they're asking for. Quote
ChaoticFission Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 i sort of agree with both sides. on the one hand, you're not truly a newbie unless you sell something for way less than it's worth or make some ridiculous mistake. on the other hand, if it was one of us in the same position, we would most likely prefer to be alterted about our mistake. there's also another possibility: maybe it's the person's 2nd account and he/she just wants to be generous... i've seen a few of those, although not very often. Me too, about the generous thing. Sometimes it's a hacker who is giving away items belonging to whoever they hacked. Real nice. Not that I've knowingly come accross it, but have been told. Quote
Deepti M. Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 i changed the deal and gave him 50,000 NP. i think that's close enough so I'm not really ripping him off... Quote
Mimii Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 Yeah I think it's pretty lame to rip off a poor n00b for a lousy 60k item. That's my opinion. Why not just play some flash games and do your dailies, it's so easy to get 60k in a day. Tsk tsk! Quote

naalaro Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 Depends pretty much on my own mood at that time haha. I would probably do the moral thing and tell them ONLY on the basis of a new account. If not, then capitalism rules, and its that person's loss XP Quote
Xepha Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 I'd probably neomail the user... it's like when I see really cheap Draik or Krawk Morphing Potion in auctions... I feel like informing newbies that they just really under priced their item... but in the case of the auction, it's too late so I don't bother and I just bid and hope to get it :P. Quote
̊ ˉˉ ̊ Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 If I was still on neopets, I know what I'd do. I'd offer something close to it's value, maximum of 10,000np under price, so they still get a decent deal. I was personally ripped off when I was a n00b. I had a Halloween paintbrush from a random event on my first days. I was auctioning it to my friend in real life (we were such n00bs, we used the auction house instead of the trading post) and some people became my neofriend just so they could bid on it. I sold it for around 45,000. that's why I like to be nice in my offers to n00bs, so they don't get completely ripped off too. Quote
camozombie Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 I'd probably take the offer, I think we all have been on the other side of that situation. It's better for them to get it out of the way early hahaha. Quote
Deepti M. Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 Well like I said, I changed the deal to 50,000 NP. But then, I just took it out, because he hasn't logged in since he made the account anyway. o-0 Quote
